Apple iTunes 9 details, Blu-ray, app organization

Exclusive

We’ve just received a tip from a pretty reliable source that detailed for us some of iTunes 9′s upcoming features and they’re pretty exciting.

One of the new additions to iTunes is said to include Blu-ray support which lines up nicely with a recent Apple Insider report about Apple integrating Blu-ray into their new iMac line-up. Something else that will most likely make a bunch of people happy is that we’ve been told iTunes 9 will finally include the ability to visually organize and arrange your iPhone and iPod touch applications. Something that wasn’t so clearly described was some kind of Twitter/Facebook/Last.fm integration. Maybe broadcasting what song you’re playing to your friends?

Let’s see how this pans out. Even though we weren’t given a timeframe on a possible release, that yearly Apple iPod event around the September timeframe would most likely be a reasonable place to expect this sort of announcement we believe.

Thanks, Lindsey!

When you post a page’s worth nobody reads it.

    Keep it short and simple.

Re-arranging apps shouldve came out with OS 3.0
its annoying to organize 11 screens worth of apps

COME ON MAN! WHAT CAME FIRST ANDROID OR OSX? WHAT PUCK, AND WHO IS FOLLOWING IT? ANDROID IS ONLY TRYING TO BE OSX, AND AT LEAST JOBS WAS SMART ENOUGH TO LET THE IDIOTS GET ALL THE BLUE-RAY BUGS OUT, BEFORE HE LET US SIP THE BLUE-TEA!

I really hope iTunes 9 will get a speed enhancement over iTunes 8 on Windows, rather than adding social networking integration. iTunes 8 is slow as hell, and cramming even more stuff into the software won’t help.

I agree. iTunes 8 has been glitchy for me (randomly deleting album artwork, in addition to being really slow).

One of the causes may be the meticulous sorting that gets used (“C:Users\MusiciTunesiTunes Music” just for the regular music, not counting apps, podcasts, etc. Obviously the path doesn’t apply to macs)

Back in September I purhcases a NANO from WalMart. Recently I downloaded itunes 9 at the urging of apple and shit hit the fan. I was downloading the itunes u with some cool Spanish apps/lectures etc. When I went to sync the itunes new app said that it could sync with my NANO. AIfter calling apple support who told me I had bought the NANO in 8-08, I was given zero support. They told me they would send me articles on how to fix the issue and both techs never sent anything. Keep in mind one of the techs was a senior product expert. It gets better after looking at my receipt which says I bought my Ipod on 9-09 meaning it is still under warranty. Having run a software company, I would consider my experience a horrible one given that apple wanted money when my warrenty was not expired (I had to prove it to them with the receipt), and that they did not want to admit that IT9 is a freak show of software that they should support versus offering articles I could read to fix the problem. Overall my customer experience has been horrible.

they have UDF 3.0 support for BDROMs already, its just the only ones able to potentially watch Blu, have to rip them, and that requires a Hackintosh, as most newer macs dont even have blu-ray drives. THose that do, usually are burners, and apple doesn’t OFFICIALLY have the SW yet.Glad to see they changed thier minds, even if it is late.

rumors of certain open source softwares abound that BLU ripping(and THEN watching the content) IS possible. So, in theory….apple always had the option to DO BLU. They just haven’t made the official step.
