Sprint has fling with Mother Earth, announces eco-friendly Samsung Reclaim

General

Yay green. Sprint announced this morning that it is now the latest carrier to jump on the eco-conscious bandwagon — and being conscious of the environment is definitely a good bandwagon to jump on. Made with 80 percent recycled materials, the Samsung reclaim is a phone that has been rumored to hit Sprint for a while now. Sprint calls the phone “the most full-featured QWERTY phone launched by Sprint at less than $50″ and truth be told, it probably is. In fact, it’s probably the most solid green offering we’ve seen from any US carrier considering its QWERTY keypad, 2 megapixel camera with video capture, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, GPS and microSDHC support (up to 32GB). No, it’s not going to satisfy the power users out there but if you know a tween looking for a messaging machine, this little guy is just about as good as it gets. The Samsung Reclaim will be available nationwide on August 16th for an affordable $49.99 on contract. For every handset purchased, Sprint will donate $2 to The Nature Conservancy’s Adopt an Acre program.

FIRST..or maybe second :( I’m digging the color of these phones, the green rocks! Better than that yellow abortion of a phone I saw here a few days ago.

two things that go good together; cool and cheap. nice option for kids or maybe even adults that are looking for a handy little messaging device that won’t dent their pockets.

And when you’re done with it, you can boil it for ten hours and make a nice corn chowder!

Actually they look like nice little phones. I wonder how the keypad is.

Nice lil phone. This was on Sprints Roadmap a while back and that August time fram is correct. Love Sprint or Hate them, you cant knock any carrier for attempting an Eco Friendly Cell phone. I think T-Mobile has a prepaid eco friendly phone as well. Even the box the phone comes in is recycled.

Sprint doesnt need 5 models like this runnin around they only need one of them. The off contract price better not be too high though.

Pre-paid phones aren’t eco-friendly because when you’re done with them you just throw ‘em away! :-D

Really nice looking and featured. I think it’s missing a smart OS but it’s aimed regular consumers so it’s ok. And it seems to be better than many other more expensive phones.

THis phone is for anyone who likes to be able to text and make phone calls and check facebook and myspace. It’s not just for the kids it’s for eveybody. The keyboard is very easy to use and it feels good in your hand. Also the camera is good on this device as well….
