LG BL40g graduates from Clown College… er, the FCC

Just one day after it was officially announced by LG, a super special variant of the incredibly sexy BL40 surfaced on the FCC. Dubbed the BL40g, it contains absolutely no surprises save for two of the things we love most in life — the 850 and 1900 MHz bands of UMTS. Now before any of you get jumping to conclusions such as “holy crap, it is coming to AT&T” we should remind you that the BL40 has long been known to be TELUS-bound in time for the launch of its HSDPA network. You know, seeing how it runs on the same bands as AT&T and Rogers… You get the idea.

    what’s not to like? i’m not the biggest fan of LG, but this product doesn’t look too bad. even if the company doesn’t have the greatest track record, i’ll admit it when i see a sweet piece of hardware. this just might be the turning point for LG.

    This is the next iteration of the LG Chocolate line. It is coming to Telus, that much has definitely been revealed. With it going to Telus here in Canada, odds are pretty good (somewhere around 75-90%) that Rogers will never ~ever~ actually carry the device. That said, what’s to keep someone from unlocking it and putting it on another network?

    It may go to Bell, though, as Bell is also launching their HSPA network at the exact same time. As for down in the USA… well, Verizon may get it, but it’s usually pretty doubtful that AT&T would want to look at it.

    That said, it is an LG. The devices look beautiful… their quality is horrid.

    this phone will eventually come out in north america but the carrier is still unknown..I hate the fact that phones are connected to carriers and if you really want that phone you have to cancel your line and pay an early termination fee, get a new contract with a new carrier to get the phone you want and it continues on..phone carriers are fucking criminals with those ETFs. $200 a line generally is a big fucking rip.
    but if this phone does come to NA it shouldnt be to at&t those rat bastards charge so much and their service doesnt compare around NA. if anything if someone can unlock this phone thatd be amazing
