HTC Leo gets spec'd; mmmmm, Snapdragon

Rumor

Earlier this week we reported some rumored details of the upcoming HTC Leo and today it looks like things are now getting flushed out a bit. Actually, it looks like the Leo may turn out the be the HTC Firestone we first saw back in January. While all this is still in the rumor phase of course, we can’t help but get a little giddy each and every time we see mention of Qualcomm’s 1GHz beast of a processor. So behold — the kind of, maybe, sort of, possible specs for the HTC Leo/Firestone:

  • Quad-band GSM/EDGE connectivity
  • Dual-band HSDPA connectivity (900/2100 MHz)
  • 4.3-inch WVGA (480 x 800) capacitive touchscreen display
  • Windows Mobile 6.5
  • Qualcomm 1GHz MSM 8250 Snapdragon processor
  • Wi-Fi
  • GPS, A-GPS
  • Accelerometer
  • Light & proximity sensors
  • 3.5mm headset jack
  • 5 megapixel auto-focus camera with dual LED flash
  • 512MB flash memory, 320MB RAM
  • MicroSD card support
  • 1230 mAh battery
  • 121 x 67 x 11 millimeters

Mmmm, Windows Mobile 6.5 with a giant capacitive WVGA touchscreen and a Snapdragon processor. Yeah, we want it.

I have always liked HTC phones and they are the best smartphones you an buy ON PAPER. They always dissappoint in the end. If it isn’t the battery life, its the sluggishness of Windows Mobile pltform. I always like these phones and get the urge to buy one, but I have been burned by HTC before and don’t care to make a fool of myself again. What makes you feel bad about even buying one is knowing that they are the most expensive phones out there. Adding injury (to your pockets) to insult.

Seriously, for all the flack that BGR has posted about RIM’s OS being antiquated, where’s the much-needed criticism for Windows Mobile? Anyone who thinks 6.5 will be more than just another facelift needs to get a hold of a leaked ROM and see for themselves.

As for Windows Mobile 7, $10 says we won’t even see it in 2010…(going on 2-3 years of delays!)

    @Blackula: 900/2100mhz 3g band does not work with AT&T

This phone looks good. If it comes out with these specs I’ll buy it. Hopefully there is a 850/1900 3g version released for the US though.
