BlackBerry Night at the Movies to launch T-Mobile's Curve 8520

News

Having managed to get our hands on Walmart’s 2009 T-Mobile line-up a few month back, it comes as no surprise that RIM and T-Mobile are putting the final touches on BlackBerry Night at the Movies — 51 parties that will take place over two weeks starting July 20th — to celebrate the launch of the BlackBerry Curve 8520. A bunch of stuff is planned for the parties including a movie screening, contests, door prizes and more, but the main focus of the night will be a preview of the Curve 8520 aka Gemini. No word yet on whether or not the device will be released during the two weeks of shindigs or shortly there after, but we can’t imagine it being much longer based on the increasing number of devices we have seen in the wild. As for whether or not people will be able to walk away from the party with the device or if they will get an IOU for one is also also unknown, but unless there is an abundance of Handi Wipes on hand at each event to cleanse people’s hands of buttery movie popcorn, we think an IOU is probably more appropriate.

Thanks, David!

Yeah exactly man. That blackberry is just cheap garbage. Go take a look at the tour, it puts this damn thing to shame. Does t-mobile really need a special event for this? Why don’t they do a special event party for a cole brodman turd? And do a two month pre-order period for it as well.

This device is supposed to bring blackberry to the masses (sub $100 device). It is not marketed to the tech dweebs that refresh this website every five minutes. I love how almost every comment I see on this and other tech sights say that every lower or mid range phone is weak and blah.

Tremor speaks the truth. Phomes aren’t always marketed for u uber phone retards.

*sigh* wake me up when “Aries” aka 8530 is ready. A Verizon BlackBerry with wifi, keyboard, and cheaper than a Tour? This will be big.

Even as a geek I can appreciate that there still does exist devices that cater to other demographics.

Come on guys can we be this dense?

There are lots of mothers, aunts, grandmas who exist and would benefit from a device with an awesome keyboard and calendar capabilities.

Another cheap plastic product from blackberry. Instead of investing in this trash, they can go create more apps on their phones that way they can attract more customers or improve their existing products. What is the price gonna be? $200. Man the iphone is for $99 and comes with 8g, thousands of apps, touchscreen, and all the other good features. too bad it is stuck with a horrible carrier (att.
