Samsung Comeback gets spec'd

Rumor

You might recall the Samsung Comeback — though its name was unknown at the time — from a group of four T-Mobile-bound headsets we spied back in early May. Sure it was likely the least interesting of the group but you’ll be hard pressed to find a T-Mobile subscriber who isn’t at least somewhat excited when news of a new 3G handset rolls around. Well T-Moblers, the next piece of the puzzle just fell into place as the complete specs of this little QWERTY have been uncovered. Highlights include the QWERTY keyboard of course, a 2 megapixel camera with video capture, microSDHC support, integrated email and IM support, Bluetooth, 75MB of internal memory, a 960 mAh battery and a pair of low-quality displays. Oh, and let’s not forget 1700MHz 3G. We’d say this little guy has the potential to make a decent showing with the tween demo as long as we see a price tag around $50. Hit the jump for the full specs.

    Don’t call it a comeback
    I been here for years
Rockin my peers and puttin suckas in fear
Makin the tears rain down like a monsoon

Open the floodgates…here comes all the teen and tween phone haters. Hate all you want but Samsung will be laughing all the way to the bank.

  • Jeremiah

    @tRICKster: I second that!

I personally wouldn’t get it, but it definitely has a lot of potential at the right price point. It’s a unique device, and actually doesn’t look too too bad. If it came in more colors than just white/red, that’d be even better, but I must confess I like that color combination a lot.

@ Trickster I kno right.. Some idiot always has to come in and say the phone company will fail because they released a phone thats not a cutting edge smartphone.. Lol “What that new samsung thats aimed at kids that dont have jobs doesnt do HD video.. FAIL!!!” Lol those crappy phones have hi profit margins and sell like ice water in hell, with no marketing..

I’m not going to argue with the fact that it is well suited for the demographic.

Still I hate the form factor. I hated it when the env did it, I hated it when Kyocera ripped off the env, and I hate it here. Don’t understand folding QWERTYs when it means you’ve got to add at least 2x the thickness to get the two screens in there. Sliders (or sidekicks) always made sooo much more sense to me.

this phone does come in differnt colors, i think five differnt colors and is this really just a kiddie phone…

  • damiaking

is that like the alias or somthing :s

  • tande

@damiaking: No its like the EnV or something.

  • iFloss

Actually that is not bad at all.
The browser is a bit gimped from what i’ve seen on the phones i’ve used but they’re optimizing the web2go browsers for certain samsung phones.

The screen looks like its a wide screen too so that’s a plus in my book. This wasn’t aiming for anyone besides tweens though because the keys are way too slim and they dont look like they’re raised.

    Not bad in my book

  • grrr

well i was wrong. that’s no alias keyboard.

I smell a GoPhone. If you want a full keyboard from TMO and dont want to spend money on an extra data plan of some sort, you had to buy a Gravity. No other choice really. Until this thing came out. Still, TMO really needs to add choices to this segment of the market, as ATT and VZW have plenty to choose from.

50$ Yea this will be a hit for t-mobile. But seriously there’s only so many 16 years old in America t-mobile. How about some McLoving for people working in the office!

Even though I have at&t.. id gladly jump to t-mobile for a touch pro2. I seriously need a phone with a keyboard. I look at my iPhone 3G and my old SKLX and I seriously consider activating that lx.

  • GNAR

Still looks like a shitty version of the enV 1 to me. But no doubt it’ll sell at the right price point.

  • Bun B

Guess what, folks? This phone WON’T have a cheap price point.. out of the gate, it’s going to be $129 after $50 mail in rebate. Sorry to disappoint you all! And the Highlight isn’t any better – it’ll be $149 after MIR. I don’t know if it’s TMO or Sammy that’s setting those prices. Hopefully, they’ll drop those prices after a short period!

  • Lovin

Okay guys chill. T-Mobile’s got it’s ups like signal and stuff but it’s no secret their phones are awefull. It’s the only non internet phone that flips open so don’t be hating I’m so getting this phone

  • Shelby

I personally like this phone, but i hate the price point. I am due for an upgrade, and this phobe will cost me 200 bucks. but I wanted a QWERTY, and this doesnt require a data plan like most other QWERTY’s
