Bell to launch the BlackBerry Tour on July 17th, $699.95 retail

Exclusive

Well then. It looks like we’re now able to confirm that the BlackBerry Tour 9630 — which Bell has yet to officially announce — will touch down in Canada on the 17th of July. Beyond that, we’re also able to confirm that the full retail price will be $699.95. So what does this mean for those who are willing to take on a new 3-year contract? The standard numbers add up to $249.95 out the door but we wouldn’t be surprised if Bell gets sexy with it and we see the Tour launch at $199.95 or maaaaaybe even a little lower. Hit the jump for all the details.

Thanks, KEUSS!

  • http://boygeniusreport.com sadavyk

boy i’m happy i am not a businessman then i would have to get this over price boring as hell wack berry 150 countries lol who really needs that i rather have a netbook

  • scrofula

Four straight articles w/ pics and little new info on a boring phone! Yawn

  • RetroDude

Us traveling business guys that make over 6 figures are ecstatic.

All the jobless yawners above need to get up earlier so they too can make a good living and move out of their parent’s basements.

    Its all about choices

  • octav

no wifi …. what a waste not to have wifi on biz phones…

  • damiaking

yo whats up with all the tour articles ??i still dont know whats so special about this one it looks just like anyother bb and it dosent even have wifi=fail

  • Len

haha, I guess it’s now the iphone fan’s turn to B*tch about consecutive BB articles after we were fed a dozen iphone articles with redundant info a few weeks ago.

  • Que Ball

Who needs wifi when you have an unlimited data plan.

Yeah, BLAH BLAH BLAH, What about when travelling?

Who wants to be constantly bothered with email when you are on vacation anyway. My laptop has Wifi, I’ll use that instead if it’s so important. If it’s a business trip I’ll have the laptop with me, and the nice thing about blackberry when roaming is that once you turn off all your apps from doing background updates and only leave email running it practically sips data. Even at $8/MB it’s just a few bucks a day to use for heavy email. Just don’t load images thats all.

Problem solved, Wifi no longer necessary. Not saying I wouldn’t mind having Wifi, but it’s really far from Fail. It’s not like being on Rogers or AT&T in the US. The CDMA coverage the Tour runs on is excellent. We don’t need Wifi to cover for an inadequate 3G carrier.

Like I said on an ealier post:

Reasons tour is a nice upgrade for blackberry users:

    (much) Higher resolution screen.
    Faster processor
    More Memory
    Better Camera
    Rev-a 3G instead of Rev-0
    Updated OS

I know blackberry users tend to get a little excited, but this is a pretty big upgrade, especially from the 8800 series. Think about the iphone 3GS. Kind of the same deal right? Good upgrades, but not a game changer. And people were camping OUTSIDE for that one!

    @retrodude

You cleary don’t make six figures judging by your choice of grammar and sentence structure, but I digress.

I have to agree with all of you. You don’t need wifi on a blackberry. With it’s primitive browser and lack of usability on the web (other than messaging) wifi is just hassle that the average business yokel doesn’t need.

    no wifi – no thanks!

  • http://boygeniusreport.com sadavyk

even if it had wifi i’ll still spit on it!!!
last month i had the bold and the wifi on that sucks bad you can’t even turn off the cell radio and just use wifi it’s like it shares the network wack berries are really square

  • Skip Flipjack

It’s actually a great phone, probably best reception and sound quality of any BB ever. Rogers must be shakin. Plus they aren’t getting this one HA HA.

  • John

Actually, the iphone 3GS was a MAJOR disapointment and I dont know of anyone who camped out for that waste of a release (yes, I am an iphone owner). personally I will wait for them to make the iphone more useful before i “upgrade”.

As for Blackberry – is there a way to tell one from another?? – they all look the same and all do pretty much the same things – why not just give them numbers? They release a new one every week or so and simply mix up the applications – add a camera to one but take away the wifi – add world phone but take away camera – add this or that, take away 3G

Dont you ever just get sick and tired of it?? I’m not just sick of it, i simply dont care anymore. Blackberry should just get out of smartphones and buy a hockey team somewhere.

  • saywhat?

I make well over 6 figures. My sentence structure and grammar are not the greatest at times. Who says you have to be a grammatical genius to make money? Also, why would I worry about my grammar and sentence structure if I’m posting a quick opinion on a forum? Weak argument dude; likely borne out of jealousy. Pfffft.
