TouchFLO 3D 2.5 gets previewed, lusted after

Software

HTC’s TouchFLO 3D UI manages to make Windows Mobile hip but after HTC unveiled its Sense UI for the Hero, we’re sure that more than few of the WinMo faithful were tempted to switch over to Android to get in on all of the new hotness. But to the fanboys who dare not think of committing such heresy we ask that you take a look at the image above. It’s a screenshot from TouchFLO 3D 2.5 “Manila” (which is reportedly going to debut on the Firestone) that features many welcome enhancements over its predecessors. The home screen has been changed to allow the selection of up to three application shortcuts and support for Footprints is there as well, but to be perfectly honest its the skinning of pretty much every single Settings screen that has us excited. The less we see of the default WinMo UI we see the better. Hit the jump for a few more screenshots and a video walkthrough (in German).

    HTC,

Where’s that Touch Pro 2 for AT&T? Why don’t you put the 850 3G band in you European models? This UI looks grand!!

  • grrr

    yes! no more winmo ugliness

  • Makes Me Wonder

HTC is on a tear right now, sense UI then this update to TF3D, they really know how to push their products and make your phone feel 4000 yrs old. I think just like sammy, sooner or later we’re gonna see their own proprietary os

HTC really knows what they’re doing with their UI. lol I love how to they replaced the Windows Logo on the top, left for the start menu with an HTC logo.

The new manila must be a hog…. Unless he has a bloated ROM on there. The 47mb of program memory available is reminiscent to the crippled VZW TP.

The less digging I have to do in default WinMo, the better.

Kudos, HTC. I can’t wait until you release a phone with this UI so that it can get stripped out and thrown into a custom ROM.

    I will be… pleased.

Is HTC able to skin WM better than what MS managed to do through WM6.5?

  • Chris

Using a stylus is t3h suck.

@Justin: Windows Mobile allows for greater customization than almost any other mobile platform. You can also see that the other icons in the menu bar are not standard M$ WM icons. It’s not likely that you’ll see HTC implement the icons.

    @Backstreet: It’s called HTC Innovation for a reason =D

@Chris: Makes it easier to see what’s being done on the

I agree I love the customization of WM. Currently using an HTC Touch Diamond. At least until I can get my hands on a Touch Pro 2 :D

  • celz

wm isnt the most elegant but its a workhorse.. you would be hard pressed to find an apple app that isnt on wm already and i could name a great deal of wm apps or functions that the iphone wont get

  • merlot

^What the fuck does the iPhone have to do with this blog entry, idiot? This is about the UI shell on top of WM that makes WM more easily navigated, in case you’re deaf, blind, and mentally incompetent. Why is it that haters always give their own preferences a royal black eye like this??
