Samsung's B7610 Louvre gets pic'd, spec'd

Rumor

While talk of Samsung’s upcoming B7610 Louvre has been floating around in quiet corners of the internet for quite some time now, the first image of the upcoming Windows Mobile smartphone has emerged alongside a list of specs. We’re not sure exactly how this handset pays homage to the famous French museum but maybe Sammy is just running out of code names. While it’s clearly not meant to be a flagship device, the Louvre looks as if it will be able to hold its own against similar devices in its class:

  • 112mm x 5.8mm x 16mm
  • Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and 7.2Mbps UMTS/HSDPA
  • 3.5-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display
  • 5 megapixel camera
  • 1GB ROM
  • 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and aGPS
  • Accelerometer
  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • FM tuner with RDS
  • microSD support
  • miniUSB
  • Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional
  • 1500 mAh Li-ion battery

Having not yet been announced by Samsung, a release date, list of carriers and pricing are still unknown. The source of this leak however, believes that the Louvre will makes its debut this July with a price ranging from 250€ to 500€.

    Wow….and things get more interesting.

Good grief. Why can’t this be the Android phone?

  • Jason Bourne

Yea man…we need some more Android phones. This would’ve made a killer Android handset.

So this “non-flagship” device has everything the iPhone/Blackberry/Android/WebOS offers in terms of hardware (*awaiting word on the processor/RAM) and actually goes a few steps further with a higher resolution screen and a 5 MP camera ?

I can’t wait for 2011 when the iPhone 3G S XL announces an LED flash and a higher resolution screen and the choirs will proclaim from the mountain tops.

Seriously, do mftr’s not realize that whenever we see a post like this, we scroll down to see if it has WM, then keep on moving along. NOthing to see here. WM sucks and Android is free. Even if Android sucked, I’d expect more adoption.

looks better than my LG Incite

any news about the Tour or Storm 2????

  • Benji

True, as soon as I read it has WM, I say Naaaaa. I don’t know what it is. They put WM on the cool phones and Android on the all right phones. There are a bunch of cool phones that we wish something else than WM. Damn put Android on the TP2 and the Xperia 2.

    I agree…why can’t this be the Bigfoot…highly upset!

  • Dave

    112 x 5.8 x 16 …

I assume the 5.8 mm width would be a typo. Right?
Based on the Sammy’s track record, we’ll see a similar model equipped with Android pretty soon.

  • jahn

looking at the specs, this looks like it’ll be a sweet device!! even competition for the TP2!

  • Truman

Fcuk the powers that be; Flash the ROM. Ala haykuro-cupcake… Hero stylie. Put an 850 and 1700 tho, wouldja?

  • PHug

What is the screen resolution and what processor is in it?
This could be better than the TP2.
I didn’t think the TP2 would be beaten this year.

  • Chris

yeah doesnt this look exactly like what the bigfoot was supposed to look like?

  • jonathan

Does anyone else notice that the keys aren’t standard English layout?

    Top row is A, Z, E, R… instead of Q, W, E, R

After that, the rest of the rows are obviously skewed…

    Just one question.
Why is the QWERTY keyboard layout kind of off. Take a look at the top left of the “QWERTY”. Looks like the “Q” and the “A” had a switch. And the “Z” and “W” as well.

This B7610 Samsung with windows mobile 6.5 looks like a really great phone. It is jammed packed full of the features that I personally want and I think this is a great sized phone too. I use GPS almost daily so that is a huge plus, the 3.5″ jack is a great addition so I can use my own headphones and the wife and keyboard look awesome too. Bring it… let’s see this phone in person now.
