Curve 8900 on sale now from AT&T's website

Retail

Apparently someone at AT&T didn’t get the memo that the BlackBerry Curve 8900 was supposed to go on sale tomorrow because it’s now available for purchase on the AT&T website for $299.99 before a $100 MIR. Who are we kidding; it’s not like we could ever complain that a slick smartphone has gone on sale early. Actually, we sort of can because they are shipping with OS 4.6.1 and not OS 5.0 like some of the 8900′s we played with at WES. But we digress…

When will RIM stop rehashing the same tired design and fix it’s browser. This is nothing more than a rehash of the 83xx which was nothing more than a rehash of the 8700

Got mine yesterday, shipped to me, arrived at 2 PM today, been playing with is since! as for the no 3G, it works for me, because some people live in a world without 3G networks. I live in a resort town in Northern MI, where AT&T just bought their way in (bought another carrier out, took over network). This is great, because I moved up from Detroit, and thought that I’d have to change to some mom & pop provider (NCI anyone?) or VZW (gag). So EDGE+WiFi works for me, because we have no 3G towers, but TONS of cafes, bookstores, coffeeshops, stores, hotels, restaurants, state parks even, with HotSpots, and they are all free! (This is mostly to draw in the Rich Liberal types who want to be seen on their Powerbooks, blogging about hybrid cars, Michael Moore, and kayaking in Lake Michigan, lol!)

I’ve update to the recently “leaked” OS 5…. still has the volume problem. It is a design problem with the speaker.

Does everyone know that AT&T and Verizon company stores will credit the rebate on the spot at time of purchase? It saves on tax and you don’t have to deal with sending anything in. Ask nicely and 6 out of 7 times they just do it. Get a little firm with them if they refuse (either way always wait until you are ABOUT to hand over the credit card for the purchase so you have the salespersons FULL attention and say, “Oh, and I’d like to have the rebated credited right now, please” as if it’s a given that they will do that because it is). Tell them no deal in the unlikely event the salesperson refuses or says says he or she can’t do it. Ask for a manager. The 7th time it took a little, “oh, sorry, I’ve never been refused before. I guess I’ll wait on the phone,” before they did it. I prefer to buy from company stores since they seem more willing to help late “if you bought the phone from us.”

  • You Got to be Kidding!

WiFi, 3.2 Megpix and no 3G for an extra $100?? NO 3G?! EDGE getting worse and worse and NO 3G!

I’ll stick wit my 8310. Besides: data speed, OS and physical technology are near the end of the hockey stick curve (NPI). Apps are were it’s at! Let the wars begin http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/appworld/download.jsp#tab_download

Just got mine even though I’m away from home. Unfortunately the not fully charged new battery is about to die, so I’m off to plug in.

Picked mine up on Friday find it to be a good phone if you have not owned the Bold. All the 8900 has over the Bold is one heck of alot better camera. 3mp is way better not to mention the autofocusing. Better camera will not make it a keeper for me so it will be going to one of my salespeople!

I have the bold and I’m actually going to buy the 8900
When it comes to my store. Some things that I like about
The 8900 is the smaller size and the lovely camara
If you are thinking about getting one you should and if
You have a blackberry just trade it in.
