Storm 2 could drop on Verizon sooner than expected

Rumor

Could we be saying goodbye to the BlackBerry Storm sooner than expected? BlackBerryOS forum moderator BlackBerryOS , who has a relatively good track record where early info is concerned, claims to have received some intel from a senior-level insider at Verizon. Said intel suggests that Verizon Wireless employees are already undergoing training for the upcoming BlackBerry Storm 2. More importantly, he claims that the Storm 2 could be released as early as this month, and insists it will be available by the end of June at the latest. Wow. Could the Storm 2 be slated to drop even before VZW deals the BlackBerry Tour? The email goes on to cover the presence of Wi-Fi in the Storm 2, though we’ve already confirmed that back in April. So, Verizon customers, if this pans out will you be jumping on the Storm 2 train or can you wait it out for the Tour?

Thanks, Stang68!

Which is why VZW has been unloading Blackberries like crazy lately with their buy 1 get 1 free deal. Trying to offload the inventory they are to make room for new models no doubt.

There is no new version of the Storm coming out any time soon. Yes it exists as a test model but that is absolutely it at this point. Period. The only model we know we are getting out of those discussed is the Pearl flip.

theyve just given up on the first storm it seems like

Given up? How have they given up on the Storm?

I was very happy with my Storm to begin with, and the OS upgrade is like owning a brand new phone.

Other than the fact that the programs are a little slow at switching, I have to admit- I love my storm! It is the most functional “PDA” type phone I have ever used. I have used the iPhone, and I like the Storm much better. I agree, though, that the bugs should have been worked out before they released this to the public. If all the bugs were fixed, it would be perfect for me.

It is unfortunate, however, that it is connected to a sub-par Verizon customer service base.

    Will this phone have WiFi?

“From what i have read it seem that the second storm will function more like an iphone with a solid glass frame. The click screen was one of the major screw ups of gen. 1 storm. Verizon must make this new storm function correctly in order to bring consumer confidence back.

The tour is blaa….If you have a blackberry you have a “tour”…same small screen…ill keep my old Blackberry Worldwide which has been a great phone(but no camera).

Why are you guys looking to get Tour, it has no WI-FI. What, do you travel oversees every month. WI-FI can be used everyday from the good ol US. Why does Verizon NOT have the 8900 available? Why did they not put WI-FI in the Tour? Those are the questions that should be asked!!

Could it be that they are having major issues during test phase and can’t come up with a solution? More than likely they were smart this time and didn’t release a product that was going to be less than satifactory and couldn’t meet expectations of the consumer. ie texting or typing faster than 5 wpm.

I have had a Storm for about 6 months now and I love it. It performs much better than the iPhone at almost every task, except for playing video games. Email synching, mms, sms texting, photography, videography, internet browsing…all better with the Storm. Everyone I know who has an iPhone has had to replace them with another iPhone because of problems in the OS at least once (one friend had to replace hers THREE times in a month!).

I LIKE the clickable touch screen, it reduces the amount of accidental selections that are inherent in every other smartphone with a touchscreen.

All of this talk about a 2nd generation Storm is great, just don’t get rid of the things that make it such a nice piece of equipment!
