The LG Xenon arrives at Rogers for $79.99

News

A press release has yet to cross the wire, but a few of our eagle-eyed readers have sent us links to Rogers’ website which is now listing the LG Xenon. The Xenon becomes the latest addition to Rogers’ rapidly growing Quick Messaging line-up, which also includes the LG Neon, Samsung Gravity and Propel. The Xenon however, is arguably the pick of the pack as it features a 2.8-inch 240×400 resolution touchscreen display, sliding QWERTY keypad, 2 megapixel camera with video recording, Bluetooth 2.0, 80MB of internal memory, microSDHC support, an accelerometer and dual-band HSPA with quad-band EDGE connectivity. Not bad at all, especially given that the Xenon is going for $79.99 on contract and $279.99 contract-free.

Rogers on contract = 3 years

    BLAH!

  • Zak

“Pick of the pack” ?! it’s the the LG Vu with a keyboard. which screams “going to break it 2 months”

  • nathan

I hate to start a flame war but does anyone else besides me think minus the keyboard it kinda looks like a storm?

  • murphythadog

Without looking at the title my first thought was Storm2?

Those 3 Year contracts are terrible, god you guys better be quiet or At&t might decide to start that up with the new i phone.

  • JoeTour

^^^not ‘kinda looks like” its carbon copied from the storm, just look at the symbols on the send/end keys.

  • VZW

It does look like a storm with a qwerty

    Storm with an HTC keyboard.

    original.

It looks like Boy Genius’ mockup of what he THOUGHT the Storm was going to look like early last year. Boy Genius should sue, that was his design!

Zak had it almost right when he said it ‘screams “going to break it 2 months”’. Try one day! Worse, breakage isn’t covered by warranty. Avoid like the plague.

  • Meh

People need to stop expecting phones to be indestructible. OMG all sliders break in 2 days! It’s a gadget. You’re not supposed to throw it around, but for some reason people think they can treat their phones however they want and its ok because everything should be covered by warranty.

I have only had this phone for 2 days but so far I am LOVING IT! I couldn’t decide if I wanted to go with this one or go with the Samsung Impression. I am really glad I picked this one especially for how much cheaper it is.

One thing that I want to point out about this touch screen is that unlike the iPhone (which I had), you can use a stylus pen or any other pointed pen/pencil with it. Sometimes when I am on the browser my fingers are too big to click on a small link, this is where a stylus can be handy!

Came across http://www.LG-Xenon.com it’s a very user friendly place for us the LG Xenon owners.

Thnx, I was thinking about getting this one or the impression, but now I’m sure to get this one if you say it’s that good. :D

I already have the phone and I’ve had it for about at least 5 months and dropped it about 3 times and it did not break. So whoever says that it breaks like just when you get it you could be wrong.

BE glad you went with the LG over the Impression. I had the impression for three hours and returned for the following reasons (Keep in mind my wife got the Xenon so I was doing a direct comparison):
    1. In our house Impression I was picking up no signal, Xenon maintained 2 to 3 bars.
    2. You can not customize any menus on the Impression like the nice contact and favorites shortcuts on the Xenon desktop.
    3. The Impression is like the old desktops of 90s. New out of the box it contains tons of useless junk (preloaded apps you need to pay to unlock.) And I could not find a way to get to them.
    4. The impressions comes with no manual. It has a CD labeled manual which is a link to their website. (be by a computer with Internet access if you want to read the manual)
    5. If you do not have a data plan, this phone is annoying, and I would imagine even with one. You can not disable the side bar that is essentialy a task bar that links to every app on the phone including one you can not use and you will accidental hit them constantly.
    6. When phone is locked, you can not see battery status or signal strength indicator. (Note The same holds true for my Xenon but not my wife’s. Even though we got them at the same time from the same store (different colors) but her software version is 3 months newer than mine and does show these when locked. (I am working on figuring out how to update my software.)
    7. Not that I would decide a phone purchase on it but cool that the camera in the Xenon has a flash.
    8. Xenon is $50 cheaper for upgrade (at least through AT&T)
    9. No memory card slot in Impression.

So . . . Good choice on the Xenon over the impression and rest assured you made a good choice. I initially chose the Impression because the keyboard was easier to type on.
