Epix fail to be addressed by new patch

Software

Good news, Samsung Epix owners — if your handset has been driving you crazy by randomly and inexplicably freezing, AT&T will apparently have a solution for you soon. Last week we reported a fix that AT&T pushed out some time ago in order to resolve the SLOG DUMP error that had been plaguing Epix handsets. As you may recall, the patch did indeed resolve the error but it also brought about random but frequent freezes when users attempted to dial out. Needless to say, people were less than satisfied with this solution. According to a recent update from CareAce, a blog following the issue closely, AT&T is preparing to push out a new patch in under two weeks that will address the new issues brought on but the SLOG DUMP patch. In other words, Epix owners, you should have a working phone again in less than two weeks.

Thanks, Amir!

    The funny thing is I’ve never even heard of this phone before…..and if this was the case…for me. You better believe AT&T would be giving me a free iphone for this retarded patch taking so long!

    @david
    What makes you so special to get a free iphone? Att could care less about you.

    I couldn’t have said better myself. That’s what keeps me from switching to that carrier, it seems that’s often their answer to all their customers. I’m not ready to sell my soul to that carrier. I’ll wait for Verizon to pick up the i phone.

    this is so sad/funny… i beat at&t down with politeness and facts and finally got my device swapped for a Fuze. sold the Fuze on ebay the same day i got it and will be getting something else soon. EPIX is such a EPIX failure in the hands of at&t (escalating ringtone, lack of advertised notifications, SLOG DUMP, freezing & dial out freezes with SLOG DUMP patch). thank goodness it’s history for me!

    @david
    Dont switch to att stay with verizon. Ive joined the darkside farther than anyone i work for them -_- . They dont treat customers or employee’s well. But if you can talk smooth you can get them to do a pretty good bit of stuff. 3 warranty claims on a device and they will do a comprable equipment exchange. But the iphone is not considered a comprable equipment exchange phone lol!

    You work for ATT?
    If you do, then is there any way you can get me the unlock code for my Eternity?

  • dqf24

    Yes I agree with ch2p. If you do work for AT&T and are unhappy, can you please provide me with not the unlock code, but the master code for my Samsung Eternity? This phone is so uncustomizable, it is getting on my nerves and I think I am about to leave AT&T unless I get either an update or the master code soon.

    The iPhone will never be released to Verizon. It is an AT&T subsidized phone. There may be a similar one in the future for V, but the iPhone will be an AT&T exclusive.

    As far as Sim Unlocking a phone (So that you can use it with another carrier) There is no magic code for this. It is different per phone. AT&T will give you this code for the asking. All you have to do is tell then that you will be traveling overseas and they will text you the codes for your phone (based on the IMEI number)

    before you call, you should do some research and get the answers to the questions they are likely to give you: “Where are you going?” and “What service are you going to be using abroad?” If you answer these questions with “Uhhh…” they may give you a hard time about it.

    I have done hard restarts, contacted my AT&T rep(who knows nothing about this) and I get SLOG DUMPS everyday with this stupid phone! AT&T has told me I have to send in the phone and they will send me a refurbished one- Why would I want a refurbished piece of crap.
