Oh hai, Facebook 1.5 for BlackBerry

Software

We gave you an exhaustive preview of Facebook 1.5 for BlackBerry handsets back in early March and while it isn’t necessarily a huge improvement over version 1.2, improved OS integration definitely makes it a worthwhile upgrade. We can’t tell you how many comments and emails we’ve received since then asking, begging, pleading and even demanding we provide further details as to the new version’s release date. Thankfully we can put all that behind us now as version 1.5 is available for all to enjoy. That’s right people, no need to email us with threats anymore — just hit App World or http://www.blackberry.com/facebook on your handset and you’re in business. As always, let us know what you think in the comments section.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

So I have a question, during the setup wizard, which boxes should I uncheck to prevent the app from sending unwanted request messages to my friends? Thanks

I have unistalled mine as all of a sudden my phone just freezes and the hour glass thing pops up out of nowhere! And I’m not running multiple apps in the backgroung at all. Rim need to fix as this app is still buggy and to me it still feels like a beta version not an official release I’m so pissed with Rim right now . Can anyone hook me up with the link with the old app as this new one is not yet up to scratch!!!

    Pissed off BlackBerry fan!!!

    Sent via BlackBerry.

    @jazzyl

i had the same problem, but it was the app updating the address book that was causing the hour glass to pop up. when its done it works fine.

the automatic request for phone numbers sucks though, this needs to be fixed and changed to a prompt to ask if you want to request the number….

I like it, all for the better IMO
messages now go to my inbox because my personal email is synced with my berry, so I get notifications on the berry. any comments, tags or whatever can be seen through the inbox and taken straight to the app and used.

I can comment on walls, send messages, and do pretty much everything else I want to do with it.

I cannot stand the actual facebook website, the mobile app for BB is AWESOME imo….and WAY better than my ipod one I have. but that is just me

Has anyone else experienced a “stuck” trackball after composing and sending a message from the message list screen? It doesn’t happen every time… probably about 40% of the time. Can figure out what’s causing it. I’ve found I can “unstick” it by hitting another key, usually the space bar. BTW, I’m using a Bold on AT&T.

I really dont see what the fuss is about. I much prefer the iphone/ipod touch version.

The BB version just looks really outdated now.

having many problems. Attempted to dl it multiple time reseting every time. icon wont show even though the app shows in memory.

    HELP!

I had the same thing happen. If you manually sync a contact it sends that friend a “request for phone number” in Facebook even if you already have a number listed in your contacts. I would consider this a bug in the new software. It should at least prompt you before sending the request.+

Big deal. I uploaded it, and do not see the big “hurra” about it. Next
