Treo Pro available today from Sprint

Retail

It’s been one hell of a journey, but as of today Sprint users will be able to make like those on Alltel and Bell and get their Palm fix with the launch (or rather re-launch) of the Treo Pro. The latest and greatest from Palm will run you $299.99 before a $100 mail-in rebate which is contingent upon the choice of an Everything Plan or data plan of $30 or more. As far as specs, you’re looking at Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, a full-QWERTY keypad, 2.5″ touchscreen display, 2 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, GPS and EV-DO Rev. 0 / Rev. A connectivity, but at this point you must have already known that. It’s no Pre, but it should have enough of the good stuff to tide people over until P-Day.

Thanks, Mike!

    I’m sorry, and this is no dig. I have had the Treo Pro (the GSM unlocked) since early October, and I like it a lot. Before my BlackBerry days, I was a total Treo nut, which this essentially is.

    The Pro is awesome, and I’m only not using it because I prefer my BlackBerry Bold.

    Here’s my question: What’s so great about this Palm Pre??? From what I’ve read and seen of the Pre, I would never want to get that thing.

    Congrats to all Sprint folks who get it. If you like any of the Treo’s (or Centro’s for that matter), you’ll love the Pro…Not Pre..LOL

    Seriously seriously seriously, that made no sense at all.

    As i have said before, this is a solid device. I was a doubter, but play with one and you will see it feels fast and smooth

    Crunch said it all, Palm has a following once they give this the color treatment the Centro got it will be that much hotter. I think it should be a tad cheaper, just because I want that to be the price of the Pre, it will when the Pre comes out

    @Boogereater

    I’m pretty sure he means he can copy it over to multiple devices using Windows Mobile, while I’m pointing out you can copy apps over to any device running Mobile OS X. I don’t know what you’re going at? Seems like you’re suggesting that I can run Windows Mobile apps on BlackBerry…which I’m sure can’t be done.

    The Treo Pro would have been pretty cool about a year ago. Sprint is just releasing it NOW and it’s already passe. Nice job!

    Pro is a great device (among all WMs) and great quality. It is a pity for being delayed so long – guess Palm’s $ trouble did not help. It gets all the bells and whistles: WiFi, BT, turn-by-turn GPS (you need to buy the SW). It can be used as wireless modem for your laptop. It handles all the windows office SW plus others. I even added Asian fonts which supports handwriting as well.

    Compared with iPhone on functionality side, the advantage of Pro is handling text in files allowing stylus. Have you tried going back in the file to correct your typing in iPhone? how do you put the cursor back where you really want? That unfortunately is a constraint of the capacitive touchscreen.

    Palm will come out with Pre, but how soon and how reliable? Palm has worked on webOS for how many years? It can be great, but I would hate to reset every day when the SW locks up. I need a tool, not a toy. Someone else can be the guinea pig to help debugging Pre. It is the same situation as whether you want to buy a first model year car.

    WinMo ROCKS!!! It is the only thing that will always work with the business world. That other stuff is a big waste of time and your money!

    I’m not the biggest Palm fan, but a friend of mine has one… wish I had one.
