Nokia N85 NAM gets stealth, now available in black

General

OK, so maybe black and red isn’t your thing and you’re looking for a slightly sexier, more functional Nokia handset. Moving right past the overpriced Nokia N96, the N85 is just what the doctor ordered for many. But, to tell the truth, the whole black/”copper” thing isn’t the best look for the handset in many opinions. Fret not, Symbian fans, as word of an all-black version will be great news to any potential N85 owners teetering due to looks. The all-black edition is indeed a NAM version, meaning it’s ready and waiting for some AT&T 3G goodness. What’s more, it’s already available so no waiting needed. The only potential downside — the back still has that hit or miss asymmetrical line detailing you either love or hate. Hit the jump for a few more live shots.

Its good to see when a company listens to the complaints from users, especially when it comes to something asthetic. The stripe on the back doesnt look much out of place and ties it into the original.

I’m with Person – each and every Nokia story that isn’t “5800XM finally shipping” just aggravates me more.

N85 is the worse build quality phone i have seen from nokia so far. read on internet before you buy that device.

The first Euro batch of N85′s did have some build quality issues. However, this has been addressed on the NAM version. I own both the Asian and NAM version and can tell you that the the build quality of the NAM version is indeed solid and sturdy.

How about the N85 refresh(aka Athlon) supposedly due out in week 40 of 08? That phone would be the logical upgrade from my N82. Otherwise they have no phone that can take its place when it comes to functionality combined with photography. If you’ve seen some night shots taken from an N82 you know what I’m talking about.

i have the N85…it is a great phone. Loaded with a lot of features in a good sized device. One of the better build qualities on a phone too!

@Andrew, I dunno about that, I was reading a thread about how the button cluster can peel off on the NAM version (any version really).
