Konami releases new Metal Gear Solid Touch screen shots; wait almost over

Gaming

With Metal Gear Solid Touch dropping next Wednesday, Konami decided to push out one more round of screen shots in an effort to rekindle interest as the company prepares to finally release its first crack at MGS for Apple handsets. Konami also reiterated release details as follows:

A special ‘Advance Edition’ of Metal Gear Solid Touch containing the first 12 stages of the game is scheduled for release on the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch in March of 2009. The final release will follow with eight additional stages of gameplay, and will be available to existing players via a free update on the Apple App Store.

Metal Gear Solid Touch, officially announced back in December, had plenty of MGS fans excited until gameplay details were released. For one reason or another, interest quickly faded. Judging from the game trailer and screen caps however, MGST is going to be a pretty solid display of the iPhone / iPod Touch’s gaming capabilities as the title is fairly graphics-intensive for a mobile game. It will be interesting to see how MGST is received, especially at $9.99 a pop, when it finally drops next week. Recap: Metal Gear Solid Touch, meh, 12 levels on March 18th, eight more later, $9.99. Anyone excited or has the ship already sailed? Hit the jump for more screen shots.

Omg I can’t wait , I guess I’m gonna have to walk around with a portable battery charger .

It may not be the best but for a diehard it may just help with those who already finished mgs4 on ps3 .

I’m pretty excited, looks like a good grab for 10 bucks

When I first heard about this, and when I had my iPhone, I was stoked beyond belief. After seeing the trailers and screenshots, I’m MUCH more hesitant to drop the $10 for this. Yea, I know the graphics are the best out there and 20 levels, assuming they are longer than five minutes a pop, is nothing to shake a stick at.

I guess this wasn’t exactly what I was expecting from Konami and the MGS team. Honestly though, I didn’t know how exactly they were going to do it in the first place, so I can’t complain. Just didn’t expect what boils down to a duck hunt.

If I had an iPhone still, I would pick this up just because I <3 MGS.

I’d like to see another real MGS title on a handheld, and not this imitation lightgun crap. MGS Portable Ops was only decent, but I was surprised at just how good the older MGS for the Game Boy Color was. Why can’t they make a game that good with all this extra graphics power?

It better not have 90 minute cut scenes, or the battery is toast.

I really can’t wait to see how this turns out….I’m thinking every MGS fan with an iPhone needs to get this. From the screen shots its looking very impressive.

Just to have this on my ipod would make a happy person. Happy indeed.

And I’m happy the earlier “rumors” of it porting to xbox weren’t true. yay

    Appulo.us here I come…heh.

I agree with you Ryan H. Looks like a duck hunt port of the MGS4 game itself. I was hoping that it would contain new experiences in the series. But, judging by the screenshots, this is just a rehash of some of the “activity” from the PS3 game. Shame.

Oh geez, all you can see is a few pictures. Give it a chance, it just might be worth it!
