Photos of the BlackBerry 9630 Niagara emerge

Well there you have it folks — live photos of the BlackBerry 9630 Niagara have surfaced on the internet and it looks exactly as it did when we first scooped it way back when in May of last year. Believed to be a World Edition device that is jam packed with GSM/GPRS/EDGE/HSPA and CDMA 1xRTT/EV-DO Rev. A radios, the Niagara is also purported to feature GPS, 3.2 megapixel camera. Sadly, it appears that Wi-Fi has been dropped from the menu, quite possibly at the request of Verizon. Of course, all of this goodness can’t go around town naked, so RIM slapped it into a pretty little Frankenstein of a body that blends the amazing keypad of the Bold, the display and the menu buttons of the Curve 8900 and the silhouette of the Storm. Pretty, no?

    Fuck Wi-Fi. If I wanted that, i’d use my PC or Laptop or Tablet. EV-DO Rev. A is fast anyway. Where the hell do you think you’re gonna end up ? An underground bunker miles beneath the Earth’s surface ? No. You’ll live without your precious Wi-Fi. To all the people moaning about this phone not having Wi-Fi, if it’s that big of a deal, then just get the Bold or another phone jeez.

    Oh God at this point in the game no WIFI is striclty a dumb move. Then again, VZW likes to load their phones with that crappy OS so that if you want to use anything you pay. I like the size, it seems pretty well built. The BOLD looks and is HUGE.

    Nice berry. At least the Javelin has Wi-Fi, but poor T-Mobile never gets a good phone selection.

    I was waiting for this phone until I pissed of too many customers dropping their calls on my 8330. Now I have UMA and WiFi on my 8900 and all is better. Bye, bye big red. I can’t believe I am on TMO and loving it

    About Verizon being cocky, greedy, or whatever you guys keep saying as to why there is no cdma blackberry with wifi on ANY carrier…..did you know that Verizon has at least 3, maybe 4 other smartphones with wifi?

    have you ever even used a blackberry on verizon. it uses blackberry os, not some proprietary vzw os…you get unlimited data for 29.99 use it for whatever you want. the only thing extra you pay for is navigator if you want it, or just use bbmaps or goole maps for free….do some research.

    For those of us whom is in search of the perfect phone wifi is a must! However, I think its not a deal breaker for all of us! The Bold is an excellant phone my girlfriend has it but I’m more excited about the niagra!

    Im pretty geeky, maybe it’s because vzw coverage on Long Island is phenomenal but I have no desire for wifi, rev a speeds are fast enough for me and if I’m paying 30 bucks for data anyway then I’m just gonna use it. Maybe I’m missing something, but aside from someones house, or starbucks, where is wifi really applicable? I use my blackberry constantly on the go, wifi is seldom where I go. Can’t wait for this phone. Looks incredible.
