Samsung Shift and LG GT365 Etna for AT&T previewed on video

General

Hardcore messaging fanatics on AT&T have a few more options to look forward to in the near future. If you find yourself in need of a full QWERTY keyboard and blazing fast data speeds aren’t a necessity, the Samsung Shift and LG Etna might be for you – if the Propel, Quickfire, Slate, Matrix and Duo just aren’t cutting it, that is. The Samsung Shift is a 2G candybar phone that has a full QWERTY keyboard and apparently not much else to tout; perfect for those who do some talking, a little browsing and a whole lot of messaging. It’s a pretty basic handset and really doesn’t offer much to squeal about with EDGE speeds, a VGA camera and no real smartphone features. But there is something for everyone and the Shift definitely has its purpose. For a video of the Shift along with info and a video of the Etna, hit the jump.

Next up for AT&T is the LG GT365 (sounds more like a muscle car than a phone), or the Etna. This little slider also offers a QWERTY keyboard as well as a 2 megapixel camera and stereo Bluetooth support. It’s basically just a hair above the Shift in the features department for those who want a little more. It also has a resistive touchscreen with haptic feedback so you save some extra bulk and size by being able to dial on the screen instead of having another keypad (like the Pantech Duo). Otherwise, it’s a pretty basic phone with heavy messagers in mind.

Thanks, Fernando!

OMG!!!! The LG Etna is the same as the KS360! It looks pretty cool. But seriously, AT&T better get rollin with the new stuff. A Blackberry Curve 8900, cheap iPhone, Blackberry Storm, HTC Touch Diamond2 and Pro2 (even though they’re not even out yet) and all of the other new stuff.

P.S. I’m not gonna say first, because saying first is for losers.

woot woot etna will save us from quickfire madness

    p.s. i concur wit jd …

The Etna looks decent, interested to see if its touch is better than the Vu … and if it carries an actual antenna to save LG from it’s woes.

Shift is just the Slate in a different wrapper … another crappy non-SD full keyboard … it would be awesome if we just put the Slate and Shift as Go Phones … and then if AT&T started paying us out on texting features for them … yeah, dream world…

jd the blackberry storm is locked to verizon in other words it isn’t coming out anywhere elsee and according to that htc release sheet the diamond 2 is going to at&t and only at&t and the pro 2 will go to pretty much all of the carriers they already have cheaper iphones just go to third party retailers and the 8900 curve was supposed to be released to at&t in january don’t know what happened there but it still should be coming and there is the nokia e71x and the xenon(suppposedly) going to at&t in the near future so seriously what more do you really want from at&t

  • jeff

plus the blackberry storm and iphone have been out one of them for almost a year and the other was a giant disaster on verizon because of glitches and crashes plus at&t already has the bold wich is better then the crappy storm and is an upgraded version of the 8900 so your list is horrible at this

    Video was pulled????
    Pull the story down, too.
I’m sure it was there at one point, but that is a horrible experience, and easily could be confused as misleading.
