BlackBerry Pearl 8230 Flip gets pictured

Rumor

Well, it’s no Curve 8900 and it’s certainly no Bold but BlackBerry fans with a need for buttons will be happy to learn that the Pearl 8230 Flip should be landing soon on Verizon shelves near you. This SureType clam shell is probably among RIM’s less desirable newer handsets but options are never a bad thing as they say. Pricing and availability are still a bit of a mystery but we know silver will be among the color options, obviously. Test units have gone out however, so the launch can’t be too far off. Unsolicited advice for our pals at Big Red: If you’re planning to launch this puppy with a giveaway contest of some kind, hire a new team to run it.

Thanks, George!

    @Evilhomer:
    Why would RIMM be easier to “bully” than other companies? (By the way, no need to mention Palm, VZW has never released a Palm device with WiFi, as they passed on the 800w and possibly the Treo Pro as well- though possibly in favor of the WiFi-equipped Samsung Saga)

    But you want a possible reason? The BlackBerry Storm is already more expensive in component costs than the competition- that’s already a reason to leave WiFi out, as another radio would make the device even more expensive, and the price they can charge consumers is limited by the fact that they’re trying to compete with the $199-subsidized iPhone. Note that the Vodafone GSM-only BlackBerry Storm 9500 also lacks WiFi. (Unless you want to claim that Vodafone hates WiFi too, I suppose)

    Sprint has never released a WiFi capable BlackBerry for it’s CDMA network either. But nobody claims that Sprint hates WiFi.

      When will the Pearl Flip be Available from Sprint?!?

      I Know it Will be at some point.

      Will Sprint have the Flip in 2010?!?

    my guess would be that the bold will be first since the 8830 has been out a long time them the 9220 Pearl Flip and then around christmas the Curve 2

    @Jenny, Sprint has a plan for you that won’t include any smartphone add ons w/nav and unlimited messaging, they give employer discounts to a bunch of companies too making it even sweeter.

    You have this phone from Verizon? Will it be available soon? When!!!! I need it.

    Why would Verizon care if a Pda had wifi? especially considering they require every new pda to have a data package? exactly
