i notice the * and # symbols are located on the keyboard and probably obtained via a long press of the key…

so my question to all the corporate folks out there who have similar keyboards is this…. does this work out ok when you need to add a * or # as part of the process to join or lead a conference call?

You are clearly not part of the 5 million who caused Windows Mobile to outsell the iPhone in Q4 2008, or the 20 million who bought Windows Mobile phones in 2008 either.

Good thing for MS that there are millions of others who actually want a device they can do with what they want.

^And comparatively is a bucket-of-bolts with “some assembly required”. That paradigm has shifted. Evolve, please.

Don’t get me wrong. We use several platforms, including WinMo, but … it simply is what it is and what it appears to be well into the future.

Its easy to out sell 1 phone when there are 10 phones using WinMo on 5 other major carriers verses 1 (att) carrier. Not to mention att in the midwest is a joke coverage wise.

Looks to me the Palm Pre just got scooped.

Problem is, having WM6.1, AT&T will most likely charge $30 a month for data, where the current Propel is $15 or a package of $30 with unlimited texting ($20 value itself, making the data $10 more). Us smartphone owners (anything with WM6.1 Pro, PDA or Blackberry) pay 2X the Media.Net rate and no bundle discounts.

This thing looks weak right out of the box… a slightly souped up version of the Blackjack II … yawn.

I guess I will have to purchase this so-so phone, since I have wanted a full key qwerty slider for a long time. I hope Samsung have made improvements from my current model. As Ray stated AT& T rates are too high. I pay $115 every month just for a damn phone. I may move to Sprint.

WRONG on at least one of the things being reported. But I shouldn’t be surprised about that here.

If you’re in a phone call, the phone ‘should’ recognize the * or # key press first regardless of the ‘secondary’ location of the symbol. you would only need to press the ‘fn’ button for those symbols if you’re typing in a field recognized as primarily alphabetic.

Meh, I was one of those who bought a Fuze.

Although, a month and a half afterwards my SIM card is firmly at home inside my iPhone because using WM for more than 2 minutes is like sticking my hand in the garbage disposal (that is, painful).

WM sucks, that’s been confirmed for quite sometime now, I thought.

Have you tried WM Standard? Completely different and by no means blows. Easy to use, but powerful. How anyone can praise a phone that twinkles in the light but can’t even record video is beyond me.

Among other things, the Propel Pro also has GPS, stereo bluetooth, 3-megapixel camera and a 2.5-inch screen with 320×320 resolution. WinMo 6.1 runs fine on the phone. It’s not blazing, but it hardly lags. The hardware itself looks beautiful , and I’ve always been a sucker for squarish, slider phones. However, the keyboard feels totally cramped, and the directional nub is feels cheap, so navigating with this phone isn’t the most desirable thing in the world (no touchscreen).
