Entire East Coast AT&T Point of Sale system down?

Thanks to a tip from one of our trusty Ninjas, we’ve received word that AT&T’s entire East Coast POS system is down. Details are admittedly a bit scant at the moment, but from what we can gather all transactional systems are offline at the moment. What this means, essentially, is that any and all sales, i.e. bill payment, upgrades, new line activations, and more, are basically impossible to execute. No word from AT&T themselves as to when we might expect a fix, but given the systemic nature of th problem we can imagine that the company is hard at work on a fix. Anyone out there experiencing issues?

UPDATE: It looks like things are back up as of around 12:10pm EST. Let the spending continue…

    Your phone not working as nothing to do with our POS system being down. Why dont you try a soft reset and re-register your device on the network.

    Talked to AT&T just after noon today on the East Coast and was informed after 5 different calls that cell phone to cell phone service is down to the entire East Coast. You can as I have call land lines from your cell but you can not get another AT&T cell. I tried my wife and daughter for hours while AT&T was telling her we needed to upgrade our phones and it was our problem. Finally after hours of calls back and forth we were given to someone in tech service who said gee man the entire east coast is down its not just you and basically deal with it. Thats what I call customer service. There is none with AT&T.
