BlackBerry Curve 8900 goes live on T-Mobile US site

Exclusive

Too cold, T-Mobile, too cold. The pink panther knows its BlackBerry-hungry customers are jonesing for some Curve 8900 and it just hit them where it hurts. That’s right T-Mobile customers, the Curve 8900 is now live on the site, calling to you from afar. Take in all of that sleek, sexy BlackBerry goodness and know that you’re still a month away from being able to get your hands on one. Just to recap quickly: Availability for business customers comes on January 19th and everyone else will have to wait until February 11th. $199 looks to be the two-year contract price in both instances, with a full retail price set at $499.99. There you have it people – unless you’re Mike Sickels, it’s look but no touch.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

i like how your name is T-NO to somewhat make fun of T-MO, but in this case it didn’t really work, just like your rebuttal to the 8900 coming out on T-Mo. It seriously sounds like you’re not happy with you’re carrier charging you prices for results you wish were better.

I have a corporate account and I just contracted my tmobile representative and she took my order, $49.99 ( I am under a large corporate account) and she told me to expect to receive it in the mail by Jan 26th! YAY

Why do AT&T people keep asking when it will be available for them … do they forget they have the bold?

  • T-NO

I have t-mobile. This phone is overpriced.

T-Mobile fans are comical. the “value” brand is limited, and pretty much the same price as the other carriers for far less capability. but hey, if you need hold onto your $15 bucks a month, by all means stick with em. I’m jumping ship after the ridiculous $499 price tag for a phone that’s got 2 year old technology, besides the screen quality of course. But hey, enjoy your screen quality while browsing the internet at a crawl.

^Compared to what and by how much, specifically?

@T-NO: Obviously, Blackberry isn’t the right OS for you. If it were, you’d be much more consumed with remaining productive and the Blackberry’s strength is in its core functions, _NOT_ playing internet games and uploading to Facebook.

Find an infotainment phone, like the Pre or any cheezy cell with WAP access, to keep you preoccupied and you’ll be much happier. :)

Once again, the early release date for business customers is false. I talked to T-mobile last night, and confirmed with a manager that I cannot get one early on our business account, she assured me 100% they are not selling them early to anyone and could not say whether or not they would be doing that. She also said the Feb 11th release date is not set in stone.

i was at a tombile sotr enqireing on som job opertunities for their next job fair an i saw a spot being setup for the 8900 i stil hav my 8800

If that price is true, that does not seem very fair? Here is my reasoning, this looks like a sweet phone and I really want to ditch my T-mobile 3G to get this, but compared to the iphone or the Storm it is too much money when you can get either phone for the same price and they are much more complex phones and probably more expensive to make. THe storm and the iPhone have all the same features as this but many many more. I would say 150.00 would be a fair price but 200.00 is a little steep, dont you think?

    ^You did a what?

    Idiot.

I am glad that the curve it’s coming to tmo besides that their customer service rocks… I rather wait and not switch to another carrier where customer service sucks.. worth the wait.

  • Galvatron

went in to a store seeing if tmo corperats hireing. saw an 8900 display being setup this afternoon

^That wasn’t so difficult. Now, was it? :)

I don’t think Tmobile really raised the data packages for bberry’s. They changed the 19.99 plan which I have now for a 24.99 plan with 400 messages.. Also the 34.99 is for unlimited data and messaging.. Yet when I had a curve on at&t I paid alot more! I have never really used 3g so I can’t miss it! I thik my wifi is just as fast if not faster! Tmobile does def. have better customer service then at&t thats for sure. They never got anything right when it came to my account with them!!

I don’t know about all of that high tech stuff like 3G and WAP. I am a newbie to the blackberry world. I just want to have a nice phone that works. I had the shadow and i have a sidekick now and they are both trash. I had so many problems with them. From the comments it looks like the 8900 is the way to go so I can’t wait.

As of this morning, T-mobile is saying release to business customers is “officially” January 28th, but placing the order now will probably get the phone to you a day or two early. I got this info from my rep who said an e-mail just came out with that information. Take it with a grain of salt!

Just wanted to point out that the new EDGE technology in the new curve 8900 actually beat the Bolds 3G in a review posted on crackberry.com. Apparently it has more lines for internet or something like that which allows it to reach 3G speeds. Which means that the only thing it not having 3G means is that you cant talk on the phon to someone while surfing the web or IMing AT THE SAME TIME. ….oh wait….unless youre using the built in wifi. Bottom line is…this is gonna be a sweet phone

  • peter

actually cody i believe you might be mistaken – the crackberry review said that the 8900 only performs better than the bold on an EDGE network. a bold on a 3G network is way faster…
