Microsoft may begin offering Windows 7 upgrades as early as July

Rumor

According to a report this morning from Techarp, Microsoft may be making Windows 7 upgrades available a bit sooner than expected. Beginning July 1 of this year, Microsoft will supposedly be providing an affordable upgrade option to all Vista users. A similar move was made during the XP – Vista transition in an effort to encourage PC purchases during the months leading up to a new OS release. While a rocky launch and a harsh stigma prevented resulted in the general refusal of the upgrade option for Vista, a similar Windows 7 program would likely be welcomed with open arms. Since the Windows 7 beta leaked onto the internet recently, the upcoming Microsoft OS has been widely acclaimed despite its early beta status. Tremendous speed and stability improvements have been reported along a host of other enhancements that should distance Windows 7 from its whipping-boy predecessor, Vista. It just goes to show you – advertising is a great and necessary tool but actions speak far louder than words. Say you have a great OS and someone might believe you. Build a great OS and your product can do the talking.

    microsoft gets an “F” for innovation. where’s win FS? why do we still have this ridiculous registry at all, and what’s something relevant to the OS in windows 7 that wasn’t in windows 2000. somebody go install windows 2000 on a core 2 duo with 2gb of ram and see how its performance destroy’s redmond’s latest bloatware. they need to stop worrying about all the random UI changes and bundling of shareware class ‘features’ that their focus groups are telling them will sell software and make a good product. booo

    You know what I found funny? That when you want to load a driver from your local drive with the “have disk” button, it defaults at trying to find the file on the A: drive….. Is there anyone still using an A: drive? Even so… What manufacturer’s are putting drivers on a floppy disk…?

    The “Wow” can start today if you find a reliable bit-torrent of Windows 7 Beta (build 7000). Have been running it for a week and, with the greatest reluctance to say anything nice about Microsoft OS, this is pretty impressive. It’s very stable, very fast, very cool. Everything Vista should’ve been

    What you are perceiving as a negative post is simply a difference of opinion. You’ve voiced yours that clearly you prefer Vista to the MacOS. An overwhelming number of Windows users happen to disagree with you and have reverted from Vista back to XP because of their very strong difference in opinion to yours. As a PC user and a Windows 7 user who is very pleased with the product, I still happen to believe that the MacOS exceeds anything that Microsoft has ever produced. In stability, security and innovation, Mac is better. If that’s negative, well, sorry.

    @DigDug

    Did you ever think of trying somebody else’s computer?

    And if its hanging up every so often, you have to disconnect any DVD drive that’s connected to SATA 1 and move it to another open SATA port.
