Samsung to introduce 7mm ultra-thin LCD TV at CES

CES

Samsung 7MM TV comparison

Samsung is expected to unveil a new LED-backlit LCD TV at CES that is a mere 7mm thick at its greatest width. For perspective, take a gander at the 7mm drill bit in the image above. That is one crazy thin and presumably ultra-fragile TV. Keep this beauty away from children, flying Wiimotes and people that sneeze with force. Samsung claims that this is the thinnest LCD TV on display at the present time and at 7mm we doubt anything else will come close. No other details about the TV has been released so we will have to wait until Wednesday to see what goodies Samsung has packed into this ultra-thin frame.

lol I wonder what the contrast ratio will be. 2 million to 1 like the last one ? ahaha.

  • Joe the Plumber

The day a tv is the thickness of a small finger something is wrong with consumers.

  • Joe

    How thick’s the stand/wall-mount?

  • Mike

    @ Joe.

The wall mount for this puppy is probably gonna be 2 empty paper towel rolls and some scotch tape. LOL.

In a couple of years, people will be crappy their pants at how thing OLED’s are.

Funny how Sony is better yet Samsung makes Sony’s panel, keep on dreaming that sony is better yet most periodicals already call Sony a tier 2 brand, foolish sheeple.

You people are all idiots. I am a Home theater salesman. Samsung has the best marketing guy on the planet. Their tvs are so overrated. Samsung does NOT make the panels for Sony. You need to check your resources before you jump on here. LG makes a majority of the actual panels on the market. Sony has a factory that butts right up against an LG factory for just that reason. Sony has had some problems lately with the crispness of their picture. That is only because they use a matte screen to help reduce glare. I am not a sony fan or a samsung fan. Sony does have much better colors right out of the box than any samsung on the market. Every tv has its flaws. Samsung just has much more. Next time you go into your local HT store……grab a samsung by the bezel…..(that is the frame for you not so smart people out their) Slim and Shady is about how you describe them. I think if sony used a more glossy screen…..they would look much better. Sony’s 120 and 240 htz motionflow is much batter too. Works both vertically and horizontally. Sony is not a “tier 2 brand” Nobody else does that……yet….. I also love that you guys ONLY mention Sony and Samsung. What about LG or Panasonic? I would actually by both of these brand waaaayyyyyy before sony or samsung. I just got to see some new 2010 tv’s for the first time…….everybody will be happy. Sony, samsung, panasonic , and Lg have come out swinging. I love fanboys like Slim Shady up there. Your best options is to go to an electronics store and check them out yourself and then go to cnet.com and consumerreports.org. Average the scores out.

Just for fun……check out the better business bureaus website. It is interesting indeed.

Samsung is outselling sony in the asian markets. Samsung actually makes the lcd substrate for Sony. Sony just pops in their “processor” for the Tv’s. Also Samsung was the first TV manufacturer to come out with OLED technology at a wopping 40″er not a measley 10-15″er like Sony did (CLAIMING that they were the first) First to market, but not first with the idea. Sony is overrated, overpriced. Next time you are at a tv store compare a sony 1080p LCD next to a Samsung 1080p LCD.. Not much difference right.. So I ask Sony how can you warrant the price differerence?

I like Joe’s question – how thick is the wall mount is it going to be? It will not look right with the thinnest TV attached to the thick wall mount.

almost tv today become slim and slim, I am sure that there will be the slimmer LCD next time, but it is the slimmest LCD display is right

I think the wall mount is made by 3M. Its a piece of double-stick tape.

    SAMSUNG TVS ARE JUNK !!
Put “samsung tv clicking noise” into a google search and read how they burn out and turn to TOAST just after their warranty expires (all models).
Read about thousands of Samsung customers that are screwed and pissed off because they are more or less told by samsung customer service TOUGH LUCK SUCKERS. Do the search on the “samsung clicking noise” so you won’t be the next samsung sucker.

LG has a 6.9mm TV.. Beat that samsung! LOL
