AT&T acquires Unicel and Vermont finally gets the iPhone

While most of us have been toying with iPhones for quite some time now, it’s easy to forget that not every city or state can enjoy the same luxury. Either AT&T coverage is terrible or there is no AT&T service in the area at all. Now that AT&T and Verizon have finished their transactions and have swapped some markets, the acquisition of Unicel means the good folks in the home of Ben & Jerry’s can finally get in on the iPhone action. Good news, right? Even better, ten Unicel retail stores will be fully converted to AT&T stores by February – and as a result, seventy-five new jobs will be created for Vermont. It would appear as though this is a win-win situation. Any VT folks here excited by the news?
