Telus issues OS 4.5 update for BlackBerry 8130 and 8330

Software

It seems that the joke that has been the roll out of BlackBerry OS 4.5 is finally nearing an end. One of the last stalwarts of the older OSes, Canadian CDMA carrier Telus, has released OS 4.5 for the 8130 Pearl and the 8330 Curve (you 8830 users have been left in the lurch). Both devices are now able to be officially upgraded to application build 4.5.0.77 which is a lot older than the 4.5.0.89 that carriers like Alltel are offering and a hell of a lot worse than what is available in the gray corners of the internet (hint: OS 4.5.0.117) but we suppose this will do for those who are too scared to upload anything but a carrier-official OS. So if you have a Telus 8130 or 8330, hit the read link to start the upgrade process.

4.5.0.117? Damn, now I’m off to search. Thanks for the update. Hopefully it fixes a few of the bugs in 4.5.0.97.

still waiting on sprint.. I have a lot of users here who would benefit greatly from the vastly improved PDF reader on 4.5. 4.3 just doesn’t cut it –nor does 4.2 on the 8830s.

And yes, I’m running 4.5.0.77 on my 8330, and it has been rock solid no issues at all.

4.5.0.117 isn’t out in the wild, it’s just a confirmed version number that exists somewhere in the world (i.e. @ RIM). Keep hunting though, it’ll turn up soon :)

Sprint, you let TELUS beat you to 4.5? My God. It would take the jaws of life to pry Sprint’s head out of it’s own ass.

Whatever though, I’ll end up sticking with Sprint and griping the whole way. It at least gives me something to bitch about.

The issue with Sprint is, and the information Im giving is coming from BAW, is that the Sprint TV has an issue with 4.5, so they are revising it with RIM into a version 4.5.xx that IS compatible.
Furthermore, I also read that they were making the version they have more compatible with the phone so they dont have as many customer service calls due to software OS problems…..
Cause we know they all hate their customers, so the least amount of calls the better for them.

SPRINT – GET TO IT! BEFORE EVERY OTHER COMPANY TRUMPS YOU

Issues with 4.5 and Sprint TV? I’m running 4.5.0.97 and there are no issues at all. Sprint TV runs smoother than it did with 4.3. It also ran well with .77 and .51. I don’t know. I am just growing tired of being the last one to receive anything Blackberry. I love Blackberry phones almost as much as I love Sprint’s great coverage in my area and their super-affordable plans. I just can’t justify switching to another carrier for phones that RIM wants you to beta test. (Storm)

SprintTV may work with the 4.5 builds but the Sprint Radio will not function. Hopefully they’ll get something out sooner or later.

4.5.0.89 is a disappointment! I never had a memory problem til upgrading to it. if it weren’t for the nice new features I would downgrade
