Metal Gear Solid Touch

Earlier this month, we reported on a widely circulated rumor that Metal Gear Solid may be coming to the Xbox 360. Variations of this rumor suggested that Konami had, not an Xbox 360 title in store for the gaming world, but an iPhone/iPod Touch version as evidenced by the “mgst” in the teaser URL at Konami’s website. Those perceptive rumors ended up being spot on as Konami announced today the future availability of four new titles, including Metal Gear Solid Touch for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The four titles: Dance Dance Revolution S Lite, Frogger, Silent Hill The Escape and Metal Gear Solid Touch. The games are expected to be released according to the following schedule:

  • Dance Dance Revolution S Lite : From Late December, 2008 in Japan and North America
  • Frogger : From Late December, 2008 in Japan, North America, and Europe
  • Silent Hill The Escape : From Late December,2008 in Japan, North America, and Europe
  • Metal Gear Solid Touch : Spring, 2009 in Japan, North America, and Europe

This is great news for Apple and PS3 fans alike. PS3 owners can also take some consolation in knowing that their exclusive title, Metal Gear Solid, has not defected to the Xbox 360 platform while Apple fans can look forward to some hot new games hitting the iPhone and iPod Touch.

    Oh well.

    We tried.

  • Why?

If you want MGS, go buy a PS3. Simple.
We don’t need that crap on 360. I haven’t played MGS since MGS on PSone… yet my life goes on.

    GOW2 & L4D FTW.

I’ve played MGS on my PS3 and it’s not worth all the hype. The graphics are top notch and the story is good, but you get tried of having all these kick ass weapons to only have most of the missions be ones where if you don’t sneak around, your dead. The last MGS game was better IMO. But yeah, I will check out SH for the iPhone.

    Hey “Why?”-

“We don’t need that crap?” Obviously you were hoping that Metal Gear Solid would be brought to the 360 more than anything. Get a real job, and buy a PS3—jackass.

I’m glad to see Metal Gear headed to the iPhone, the graphics will be fine, but game control might be a little unwieldy.

Sounds like the beginning of an avalanche on a device with all the necessary hardware for it.

Oh what will you do Android and HTC/Qualcomm?

  • celz

my touch pro has more powerful hardware than an iphone.. and trust me those games are gonna suck with no buttons.. they are just looking to milk 20 bucks from the fan boys

  • PHug

damn i hope android gets this level of software development.
I really don’t want to go to AT&T but they get all the best stuff.

Really? So where are the comparable games for that device? I’ve have WinMo for years and never seen ANYTHING like the gaming made for the iPhone. I’d rather have the game with no buttons than no game at all for my device.

I think the iPhone/pod are horrible interfaces for gaming and Konami is just jumping on the bandwagon… weaksauce.

  • Why?

WTF Snake? Didn’t I SAY that anyone who wants MGS go buy a PS3? I’m glad you agree.

Where is the Blackberry Storm version? HAHA Only kidding.

HTC needs to dump Qualcomm plain and simple.
