Macs to be discounted on Black Friday

Retail

Plenty of rumors have been making their way around the blogosphere lately with regards to Apple’s plans for Black Friday. Nothing has been announced direct from the manufacturer yet, but MacMall has already started offering up some pretty sweet deals between now and midnight (PST) Friday, November 28. On top of the MacMall deals, Best Buy is also doing a little discounting of its own. In comparing the savings between Best Buy and MacMall, you’ll have to take into consideration instant savings versus mail-in rebates. Knowing how this time of year can make you impulsive or prone to instant gratification, we’re thinking Best Buy’s instant savings will beat out MacMall’s instant savings and mail-in rebate offers. You also can’t forget that MacMall orders aren’t taxed for most though – a huge selling point. Also, as a quick side note, Mac Office 2008 is being offered at 75% off, which is a huge cut for those of you who had been looking to pick up the otherwise pricey software. So, is anyone going to jump on these offers before it’s too late? We’re not quite sure Apple is going to offer anything better than its distribution partners this holiday season but it’ll be interesting to see what happens to the price-matching policy everyone has been talking about this week.

The discounts look ok… They aren’t all that though. But they are definitely better than usual sales from Apple. I’m still waiting to buy my Mac though…

Idiot. The student discount is available ON TOP of any Black Friday discount. I bought my Black MacBook two years ago for $1300 (-$200 off retail).

Lines at Apple Stores aren’t generally that long, in my experience, especially if you’re grabbing a big ticket item instead of an iPod Nano. Just grab a sales rep with the remote machine and lay down the plastic.

I know I’d be upgrading to a new LED-backlit aluminum MacBook if the economy wasn’t so far into the toilet.

    that’s a discount?

  • Screw PC’s!

    Long Live Mac!

The Macs have been on sale at Best Buy since yesterday. I walked out with a 2.4 ghz new Macbook for $1449 +tax.

For me, the discount was all I needed. I bought mine online and went to pick it up.

I just checked bestbuy’s website. There’s no discount. It’s straight full retail price.

The education discounts are better so if you know someone in higher education just get them to buy it for you.

Macs are still a rip off…. once we can build our own i will probably own one (most likely never). Or if the price drops by like half…

There have been some super deals out there, ‘specially the last release of the MacBook, BUT, disgressionary restraints lead us to resist the temptation to buy now unless “absolutely” necessary.
