YouTube gives live webcasting a go

News

In an effort to make sure it doesn’t start going the way of MySpace, especially with Hulu on the rise, YouTube is trying something a little new. On November 22, YouTube will be webcasting live from San Francisc, CA. The show is set to be huge with appearances from Will.I.Am, Katy Perry, and famous-through-YouTube Esmée Denters. YouTube’s first live webcast is also going to feature several users who have become relatively famous through the video-sharing site. So far, there are about 50 talents and entertainers on the bill for what looks to be a pretty exciting show. Other acts and personalities will include Adam and Jamie Hyneman from the show Mythbusters where they’ll perform one of their famous experiments live. Should the venture prove to be a hit, which it undoubtedly will, it could be a new shift in focus for YouTube and a way to stop on top of competing video-hosting sites.

Hulu allows you to post home videos for others to watch? That I did not know!

The difference between myspace and youtube is that myspace was not the first of its kind. It acted like it was but it wasn’t. There were countless other sites before it. Idk if you guys will know these but off the top of my head two that pop up are Migente, Blackplanet and Xanga. They werent as popular as Myspace was but each one went away when a new one came along. Migente/Blackplanet users went to Xanga, and from Xanga people to Myspace, and now people are going from Myspace to Facebook.

With youtube, it has to compete but youtube has become something where it just needs to do some tweaks every now and again, and it will be fine. Myspace was a fad that everyone and their mama got caught up in, youtube isn’t like that.
