Latest Verizon Wireless rebate sheet reveals some upcoming handsets

General

Our Verizon ninjas have certainly been doing some damage lately and they’re clearly not done yet. What do we have for you this time – how about the upcoming Verizon Wireless Rebate sheet that covers the holiday season from 11/16/08 through 1/31/09? Several of the upcoming rumored handsets including the Samsung Saga and Omnia and the HTC xv6850 make appearances on the rebate sheet which is clearly a good sign. We also catch a glimpse of few new handsets whose details are scarce. Here is a quick rundown of the handsets listed:

  • LG VX8360 (clamshell with  EV-DO, 1.3MP camera, stereo Bluetooth, microSD)
  • LG XV9600 (basically a Dare with a detachable QWERTY keyboard and a game-pad)
  • Nokia 2605 Mirage (small clamshell with 1xRTT, VGA Camera, and Bluetooth)
  • Nokia 7205 Intrigue (small clamshell with 1x/EV-DO, 2MP Camera, Bluetooth)
  • Samsung Renown (clamshell with CDMA and Quad-band GSM, similar to the Gleam)
  • Samsung Saga i770
  • Samsung Omnia
  • HTC Touch Pro/XV6850
  • USB760 (super small USB EV-DO Rev A “micro” Modem)
  • Compass 597 (USB modem with aGPS)
  • CDM8950/CDM8975 (unknown?)

All the rumored rebates are spot on with the Renown getting a $50 MIR and both the Saga and the XV6850 getting a $70 MIR. The big item missing on the rebate sheet is the Blackberry Storm which according to our sources will have its own rebate sheet. We guess the Storm is just too “important” of a phone to be slumming around with some “cheap” flip phones on the same rebate sheet. Remember that being on a rebate sheet is not a guarantee that the phones will hit Verizon Wireless in this time frame. That poor XV8360 is on the rebate sheet again, still waiting for an official release date. Hit the jump for some close-ups.

Thanks, Luke!

    I guess this means to BB Niagara in January that I was hoping for…

    LOL @ the storm being “too important” to be on the same wireless rebate sheet as a “cheap” flip phone.

    I can’t wait for a review on the Storm from BG. I know he’ll give it an honest review.

    What ever happened to the Palm 800?

  • larry sanders

    vx9600 ain’t no little brother, dumbo

  • AJC

    Yeh I’m most interested in this vx9600 business. Anyone know any specs?

  • Tande

    The VX9600 is the last phone I’m going to wait for before buying the storm.

    I’ve got to see this swapable keyboard in action. If it ends up being half as cool as the concepts for it you’ve seen in the past I’m going to be very interested.

    Of course if it ends up being worse then the dare and the “moduals” are combersom and expensive I guess I’ll just go with the Storm after all.

    Where is the HTC diamond?

    @larry sanders
    Calling me dumbo really got my attention. :-) Your right, I forgot about the whole detachable keyboard and game pad. I made the correction in the post.Thanks for pointing it out!

  • GetOverIt

    Agreed, VX9600 is either going to be dynamite or a total bust. I’m thinking dynamite. Just wish we had some more info on this thing. Though i’m still somewhat skeptical about this detachable bit and how it will hold up over time.

    Yea the 9600 seems cool…I sent in a post for the prototypes but it never made it to BGR but on another note…Palm’s lineup seems so pitiful on the sheet…when we they do something worth addressing? No one is even carrying the Treo Pro lol.

    I am sure BG will have a great review on the storm. wait, no he will just bash it for not being an iphone. that’s what makes it BG and not a non biased review.

    > What ever happened to the Palm 800?

    Maybe Verizon considers it “too important” so it’ll have its own rebate sheet like the Storm.

    No, I don’t believe that, either.

    @gauntlet down
    I was just joking about the Storm being too “important” for the general rebate sheet. It will have its own rebate sheet, not because it is too important but for other reasons.

    @Bashok
    As far as the Palm 800 is concerned, Phone arena had an update yesterday from Verizon’s fall and winter Tech Tour. Palm was reportedly there showing off the Centro and when asked about the Treo Pro, the rep said that nothing was coming out in the near future.

    Could the mentioned CDM8950/CDM8975 be a reference to BlackBerry?

  • Brandon

    @Ryan
    I agree. Where’s the Diamond? That is the phone I want from Verizon. I’m not interested in the Touch Pro – too heavy and I don’t need the keyboard.

  • BigRed83

    The CDM nomenclature usually means A VERIZON branded phone (from audiovox or UTS/PCD, that most likely will be a mid-range phone without a camera.

  • Tande

    Some of the good concepts I’ve seen for detacable keyboards and what not use magnets to attach the modules.

    If its a physical attachment I think its going to go in the bust category for me. If its some kind of dock connector-esq set up thats just stuff waiting to get broken IMO. Some of the new drawings I’ve seen almost make it look like the modules are going to be in leather wallets and connect in some wireless manner. That might be a bust for me too. If I wanted to carry a phone in a leather case I would of bought one by now.

    I’m interested to see.

    I admire every little thing you have done on this case. I like the part wherever you say you are doing this to give back but I might presume by each of the comments that this is working for you likewise.
