Samsung Glyde problems fixed with software update

General

Just a few days ago, Verizon pulled the brakes on the Samsung Glyde stopping all sales and pulling units off the shelves for unspecified issues (we think they were turning into evil Transformers, but that’s just us). Whatever the issues were – whether it was the screen, new bugs or network issues, it has all been resolved by a simple software update. It seems like a complete halt of sales was pretty drastic because the Glyde was back in business in no time after the halt of sales was called. So if you have the Glyde and are suffering from bugs and general problems with the phone, your software update is on the way some time this week.

The phone just plain sucks, when you buy the phone there’s no mention of updates to install or anything. And when I called Verizon and told them that my screen jumps they connected me to a tech. Who was a F**** A******. It’s a shame Verizon sucks for selling such a crappy phone. To people who really just wanted a decent touch screen cell.

I dont know about everyone here but this phone sucked when i got it. it was the magic phone and all that. but when i got the first update that fixed everything and im completely happy with it. I would still trade it in though because of the occasional random call (which isint really annoying to me).

Has anyone here been through enough phones that verizon just let them have a new FREE phone? if you have i would like to know what kindof phones they offered you so please reply to me!!

This phone isint so bad for me i love the keyboard:)

i have three different glydes and i got my first one when the first came out and i have felt nothing but frustation ever since
the rest of my family have touchscreen phones that all work great the have the blackberry storm and the voyager
everytime i go in all they do is give me a new one that works no better than the last one.
i hate this phone i cant answer calls or respond to text messages
im scared to be an emergence and having to actually need my phone for something serious because there is no way i could trust it.
ki hate this phone with a passion i want it to die painfully wit a passion

the glyde doesnt work anyway! im glad they are fixing it but seriously there are so many problems with it! like one the battery dies like everyday even if you barely use it and two the touch screen is off. so its a good thing that they are fixing it.

About three weeks ago, I got my third Glyde (since 5/20/2008). The technician tells me that the big difference is an all new touch screen (in addition to new software that includes a screen calibration). For the first time, I actually like this phone. I can dial out, scroll, click on icons and it doesn’t lock up or go crazy. The touchscreen is definitely different. In fact, the clear plastic hard case cover won’t fit it, nor will the Body Glove cover. They tell me it will be another week before they have new covers to fit the new screen. Now that the phone finally works like it should, I’m hoping it will last until next January when I can trade in again.

I have a family plan with 5 phones. Two are Glyges. Both have had problems with the touch screen and texting. Both have been replaced twice agter going nthrough the mandatory software upgrade attempt. The touch screen on one of them has stopped working completely and I’ve been told “no replacement because the phone has been damaged”. It seems short sighted to me that Verizon will risk losing customers over their refusal to fix known problems for customers.

  • cant charge

is anyone else having trouble charging their phone when they plug it in?

i think the glyde sucks i press one thing it goes to the other im bout to just stop period with touch scrteens or get the iphon eor dare on verizon

Sorry dude, I dont buy that. I have a 1 gb memory card (not even a quarter full) in mine where all my pictures and video are saved to and my glyde has gotten progressively worse over the past 6 months.

My friend got the Samsung Glyde and she loves it. She doesn’t have these problems. I am going to get it off ebay and if it screws up i going back to my razr (which i hope i dont have to it sucks)

still sucks! i got a new phone even. same battery, but lately i’ve been having problems with the touch screen not responding again. definitely not as bad as last time, but it’s still pretty frustrating.

This phone literally is a disaster and obviously I don’t need to say much because you all feel my pain! The screen will do whatever it wants and the only part that continuously responds (whether or not that’s where you’re even pushing) is the “back” button… it should be recalled completely. I took it to verizon and they never gave me a replacement, only put it through the software gig twice… honestly I’m afraid that if i ever had to dial 911 that it wouldn’t allow me to… And the worst part is that the damage sticker is right inside the place where you charge it… and so even one slight drip of liquid if that cover over the charge port isn’t covered, bam you’ve got a “damaged phone” so i’m pretty sire if i take it back now they won’t even help because they’ll claim it as damaged… even though it was never damaged by water… the piece of junk just does what it wants… and the reason the battery dies is because when it does what it wants the back light never shuts off… so the scree is constantly “on”… i hate it and still have another year to suffer before my contract is up.

I dropped mine out of my back pocket into the toilet (yes, the water was clean) I grabbed it out and held it over the sink to get the big rush of water out…I dried it with the defroster and then with the heater over night. It still is woking….

I’m on my 2nd glyde. Got the first last August. It likes to press buttons and play with itself. Hung up on a lot of people due to the lock. Got a new one in January, and it was great until about June. Now it’s doing the same thing. Unlocks itself and plays. Nice that it doesn’t need entertainment. However I’m getting tired of this cuz it presses whatever it wants when I try or the screen doesn’t respond at all. Today I turned it off and it turned itself back on and dialed an international call. I won’t be paying for that I took out the battery.

my glyde sucks im havin a bunch of problems chargin it anyone have a solution for dat problem? also when sent through mms a ringotne it wont let me save it to the phone can anyone help me?

This phone is horrible! Ive had it for two years and have had issues the whole entire time. I have taken it to Verizon..done the up dates and had it replaced with a refurbished one, in fact after the last one it got worse! I called Samsung and they said it hadnt been recalled and I could send it to them to fix. Oh and get this, it would need to be up to 25 times of them trying to fix it before they actually gave me a completely different phone. The glyde sucks. Verizon sucks for not backing up their product and for issuing quick fixes that dont even work! When they should take back the crappy phones and give people their money back. And Samsung is just a joke. I feel the same about them. They make it as hard as possible to get anywhere with them. It’s sad when a person comes up to you and says that someone they know has the same phone and you and how bad it sucks! I hate this phone! Im just sorry to say I paid full price for it! Of course Verizon has no record of that. Things are so screwed up on my account that they said I used my upgrade. Lame!

This glyde is the worst phone I have ever had. It jumps all over the place. More times than not, I cannot make a call, send or receive texts. Took it to the verizon store,it cost 22.00 to “fix” it. Now it is worse. I’ve had verizon for over 10 years!!! What the …..!!!
