T-Mobile holiday promotion: Free Companion Flight 2008

Exclusive

We’re sure there are a few more handsets to come from T-Mobile this holiday season, but we just got word that the boys in pink have special promotion planned as well. Dubbed Free Companion Flight 2008, T-Mobile has a special treat in store for new and existing customers alike. Here’s how it works:

When someone activates, renews or migrates to a new 2-year service agreement between November 19th and December 24th, he or she will be eligible to receive a Free Companion Flight, ie one free round trip flight, when an additional ticket is purchased at the full fare price through a special T-Mobile website (www.FlyWithT-Mobile.com – not yet live). 112 origins and 110 destinations will be covered by the promotion and they will be spread throughout the cities detailed on the image seen above.

Of course there are some restrictions involved but nothing too crazy. Essentially everyone is eligible as long as they’re not on a business / corporate account. Postpaid, FlexPay Annual Contract, Take Control, SmartAccess and KidConnect accounts are all fair game and each account is eligible for up to five free companion flights. Sweet!

Thanks Gman!

was going to use free flights to take 6 to orlando in april. t-mobile price 361. i could get flight for 225. faxed and e-mailed price match. all i received was automated e-mail that they received the e-mail. the t-mobile flight was removed so i paid 4 all tickets or we wouldn’t have our vacation. never did hear anything from them.

I have found the same thing with this so called ‘Free’ Companion Flight.
Can someone tell what the GI is that is mentioned so many times in this site please?

Tried to do the price match because the t-mobile fare was very high – I faxed the lower fare and followed the rules. Never got to speak to a real person who would issue me the tickets. There is a time limit on the price matching and you can call many, many times and get only voicemail. Then time runs out and the fare is no longer available. What a surprise! Have been trying for days to book flights with our companion vouchers. There are never any flights available to anyplace we want to go from our city – no matter how flexible we are with our dates. Who needs this stress? What’s wrong with a legitimate promotion to encourage contract renewal? We’re really sour on T-mobile now. They have given their company a black eye with this sorry trick.

I posted back in March of my quest since November for the 2007 free flight. I have called weekly to TLC and T-Mobile. Finally found someone who”found” my vouchers!! Took another two weeks of them finding and losing the info again before sending it to booking, but I happy to say I booked yesterday for the end of September(they have extended the flight deadline from March 31 to Sept.30.)
If you are still working on your 2007 free flights try calling 605-978-2047.

SCAM SCAM SCAM !!!!!!! I experienced the same as everyone else !!!! SOMEONE HAS GOT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS !!! This is unfair to the consumer and has fraud poured all over it !

  • Rick

I want to know how you file a complaint because I KNOW a class action suit NEEDS to be started..

  • carol

i also submitted information to get a free flight. TLC gave me the runaround. Can’t get in touch with anyone who will even confirm that they have my information to get me the free flight. TMOBILE said their hands are tied. This offer is a scam. I have read at least 6 horror stories about this just in the past hour. this is a rip off. i am trying to get out of my 2 yr contract with tmobile since they are not honoring their free flight promise

  • bozo ozo

It is definitely some scamming going on. Much nearer to getting a free flight from 2007. After that trip, canceling my plan. T-mobile is no good.

  • T-Mobil Sucks

I have tried booking flights on-line for several different cities and dates and nothing is available! I called TLC and they said all their flights are booked for summer, when I told the rep. I couldn’t even get a flight out for fall she gave me some BS stories that the airlines only release so many flights for them to use and that the fall flights have not been release yet. This is full blown scam and something needs to be done.

The free companion flight is garbage! I had my fiance cancel his plan with Sprint and pay 200 cancellation fee because we thought it made sense to save on our trip we were planning on the summer..Well when I got my booking number to book the flight and absoluetly no flights are available. I called customer service and they told me to call 605-978-2173 so i did and the rep told me that have no flights availble right now and i need to keep checking every day because they update the system everyday with new flights available..Well three months passed of me checking everyday and still nothing is available..I have been a customer for 4years and never had a problem until now..I HAVE BEEN SCAMMED AND I AM REPORTING THEM TO THE BBB AND GOING TO THE ATTORNEY GENERAL.I have called them several of times and no one seems to be helpful! I HATE T-MOBILE!

  • Rick

20 months, 50 some representatives, 15 or so supervisors, 1 marketing executive, and the Attorney General I FINALLY received my 2 tickets. for those who are having problems with the 07 promotions here try this phone number.. THEN contact your attorney general online and give them the story… they (t-mobile) could’nt get my tickets fast enough.

      T-Mobile “Free Flights”

Hi Rick- I have been on the “free Flight” merry-go-round (actually, “Horror-go-round”… anything but merry) for over 2 years. Cohen brothers should make a film about it, seriously. It all started when T-Mobile admitted they lost the vouchers I mailed way back in December 2007. They PROMISED me immediate resolution on getting my free flights at least a 20 times over a 2 year period. I saved some of these promises left on my voice mail since I suspected I’d have trouble with this after having read so many complaints.

I too, have talked to at numerous, numerous reps and supervisors at T-Mobile, Caliber and TLC—none of who will give me a call back number to check on resolution. So EVERY time I call, I have to explain the situation all over again, only to get passed on to another supervisor who fakes sympathy and authority to solve it immediately. I am sure it’s been over a hundred calls…for 2 years now!
I make an attempt every week after I’ve meditated to lower my blood pressure enough to deal with their ineptness before I call them.

I’ve all but given up—but I was diagnosed in Nov. of 2009 with a reocurrence of my breast cancer…so I am determined to give my kids a little break from all we’ve been through as a family. WE have kept up our contract and they OWE me those tickets. I have a short break in my treatments for my kid’s spring break in March 2010—and would like nothing better than to give our family some relief.

I appreciate your comment and the phone # for Mr. Gooden you listed. THANK YOU in advance…Question, why should I should WAIT to call my attorney general after I call him Gooden. Shouldn’t I call the attorney-g first?

Any other advise would be much appreciated.

      Sincerely,
      Kate

A TOTAL RUN AROUND SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!! Costing me weeks amounting to hundreds of hours of time. Please post any news regarding the pursuit of a class action suit with respect to this SCAM.

I agree and would like to get on the list of a class action suit. My free 2007 flight never came through and finally was told it expired. The company had the wrong address for me even though I made copies of everything. Later T-mobile hired another company which told me my FREE flight would cost me $200 since it was over the, now, $350 limit. Which I could not find in any documentation. The rep told me he could only look up 3 bookings and each he looked up was going to cost me. He then said to look up on my own and I was to call them back at 800-213-9070. I tried for 4 days before the close of the offer on June 17, 2009, waited for 2 hours on several occasions only to be disconnected. The last day, the 17th I called at 7am mountain time (9am eastern when the started taking calls). Immediately, I was put on hold with a message, “We are experiencing a large volume of calls, please be patient as your call will be answered in the order received.” I waited two hours on hold and then was disconnected. I did this from 7 am to 2 pm also calling T-mobile reps explaining my frustration and needed this flight as my brother had booked a flight to Boston to meet me and get together with relatives. Th T-Mobile Rep said she would handle it and get back to me. 3 days later I called T-mobile to ask of status and was told the promotion was over and they could not accommodate me. I asked for supervisors several times and finally got one who read the notes on my file and realized their Rep. had made a mistake in saying they will see to it that I would get my flight. (She could not get through either when I had her on the phone so this is why she said she would take care of it.)
Well, finally all I was offered today after they once again tried to drop the case was and offer to upgrade my phone with a NEW 2 year contract or cancel my service with no penalty.
What a bunch of @#*!&^% for all the time and effort over the past 2 years trying to get a SO CALLED FREE FLIGHT. I even was told to do the research on a $350 flight and gave that to the T-Mobile Reps. (2 times, with 3 different itineraries under $350 from Delta, United, and American airlines.)
I am very upset with the whole ordeal and would like to see a class action suit against T-mobile as well as the company responsible for booking the offer.

Just wanted to let you know that when I just went to do this, I found that it was fairly reasonable. You get a discount of the base fare of the second flight which is what they disclosed in the first place. I went to Orbitz and while there were a couple of cheaper flights on an alternate airline, the choice was pretty good. The calculation is very clear (2 base tickets, plus 2 taxes and fees, less the base fare for one ticket equals the balance due.) It’s definitely cheaper (by over three hundred dollars) than I would have paid out of pocket. I was specifically looking at SF to Atlanta and the savings is $333, and that’s using the Orbitz fare.

  • akirk

Same thing for me I had a price match and never heard from them. Had to purchase the tickest myself full fare while waiting for a confirmation reply. Never did hear.

  • aomer

I just tried to get my tickets and there is NOTHING available. I’m looking for tickets in January and not finding anything. Tried different cities that probably don’t have much traffic and nothing comes up for them either…going to call the concierge service and see what happens….tickets from Virgin America are $228 rt…maybe it would be cheaper that way anywayz!

I have gone around and around with both T-mobile and TLC all year long. I tried to book a trip in May, but NO flights were available for any dates to any city. HOW is that possible?! The TLC rep told me to check every Monday morning around 8:00am EST because that is when they post flights. I did….for 4 Mondays in a row and still NOTHING. The reps I spoke with after that told me to “keep trying, we can’t see the flights”. T-mobile people “don’t have anything to do with it” or “it’s out of our hands”. I don’t think this promotion was ever legit….or maybe they only posted about 10 flights the whole year and 10 out of 1000′s of people were able to use them.
