Nokia E71 Headed to Rogers in Q4

Nokia E71 is expected to be released by Rogers in Q4 2008.

Looks like good ol’ Uncle Ted has decided not to sell the Nokia E71 on his discount Fido network but rather on his flagship and namesake Rogers network. Primed for a Q4 launch, the choice of Rogers over Fido is a bit questionable for a few reasons. The Canadian market for such devices, while growing very quickly, is still rather small. And considering that most of the people this phone is aimed at already have or are planning to get a BlackBerry or an iPhone it just becomes strange. Oh, did we mention that choosing a BlackBerry is a matter of pride for most Canadians and that QWERTY smartphones from the boys of Espoo are hated on in Canadian IT departments for their ditching BlackBerry Connect? No, don’t think we did.

    i’ve had windows mobile and i’ve had blackberry…i now use this phone and prefer it to both. this is in many ways also preferable to the iphone for business users (copy / paste for example).

    NO blackberry connect

    No usb charging (which i will never get)

    I used a E62 for awhile and really liked the phone. Sure there were a couple of downfalls, but it was a great phone. I have read the specs and wait for the day Rogers pops it out. I am going to switch back and forth between the E72 and my Bold

    I considered the E71, even looked at them in Europe recently. I chose the BOLD over it for a few reasons.
    1.) blackberry connect
    2.) RF – most reports suggest fairly poor signal for the E71 NA
    3.) email (S60 email sucks)

    I love my N95 but just couldn’t deal with lousy RF, and mediocre email (HTML email on the BOLD rocks)

    I had an E61i and the RF sucked on it too…

    @ Jeeverz.

    If u can’t choose between the e72 (which is not out yet) and the bold then u need to sell ur bold to me for like a hundred bucks cause there is no reason why u should have that phone.

    I have to e71 and i wish oh how i wish that i could use the bold with my unlimited voice & data plan on fido. But i can’t. No other phone on the market does as much and with such ease as the new blackberries do. Not even the e71. No matter how good it is.

    I have a problem with people who can’t choose between a blackberry and some other phone cause ur not seeing what a blackberry is then if u can’t decide. It’s not a fashion phone. It’s a workhorse. It’s not a media phone, not a pretty piece of crap like the HTCs and god knows it’s not an ifone.

    So…bottom line, how much do u want for ur bold..lol

    @Jeeverz: I wouldn’t sell the Bold since he has a problem with those who can’t decide between a BB device and any other. Sounds like he’ll try and stick his wiener in it or something… (yuck)

    I believe you can use unlimited voice and data on any device as long as you can set it up correctly. There’s just no PIN function. Everything else should work.

    By the way, how did you get unlimited data? Retentions?
