BlackBerry Storm User Guide

Exclusive

While we wait for RIM’s ex-IDF teams to storm (har, har) the office, we’ve decided to share a ton of pages from the BlackBerry Storm’s User Guide with our loyal readers. It’s a lot more in depth than the PowerPoint was, and it walks you through practically everything. We posted what we thought were the most important parts of the device and things we haven’t seen before. For instance, the full home screen in both orientations, the active call screen, voice recording, camera and video camera options and viewfinder, BlackBerry Maps, tasks — stuff like that. If you’re feeling adventurous enough, hit the BGR gallery!

So, I bought the Curve (and extended for 2 years) in July, is there anyway that I’ll be able to buy the Storm for the discounted price? Blah, if not I guess I’ll be hockin’ the curve on ebay/craigslist.

I just came back from the Verizon store. Service guy inside said they were sending them to “secret” training on the 16th of Oct. and Storm was coming out on the 1st of Nov.
We’ll see, but I was a little more excited by the prospect of waiting 1 less week.

Just saw first Storm commercial. Shows guy going into the store and sees Storm laying on the counter. He picks up the phone and as he turns it over to look at it, the screen goes black. National ads means the time is near!

All I see when I look at the Storm is the fact that they didn’t center the display area on the face of the phone and left like a freaking 1/2″ of nothing between the buttons and the screen. I can’t get past it. Guess I’m the only one, because nobody else says a thing about it…

    @ Beth
I def saw that commercial too!! I saw it yesterday like 3 times.. WooHoo! :)

I’m glad to see this is moving forward and RIM has made progress and made the Storm better. I got a VZW Curve in May and I’m very pleased with it, and I just got the iTouch 2G and I’m glad I didn’t get an iPhone. VZW’s service is great and the iphone interface, for me, isn’t too great. I’m not sure how the Storm will pan out but if it’s a typical Blackberry interface only without hard buttons and all touchscreen it should be an improvement over the iPhone (at least for me).

Great job getting all this info together and nailing another one as per usual, BG…

I thought the storm sounded cool, but now I think it sounds awesome! Unfortunately I’m not willing to switch to Verizon for it (or anything except for possibly world peace). Verizon’s customer service is so appalling it may actually be a recording breaking level of incompetence. So I’ll wait until it comes to TMobile. I know TMobile takes a while sometimes to get the cool BB’s, but their customer service & pricing is so outstanding I can’t help but be loyal. Maybe by the time TMobile gets a version of the BB Storm it’ll have wifi.

I had bought my blackberry curve in June and I must admit I was a little jealouse when the iphone came out.
However, if you have to go to AT&T to get it then I think I will pass.
    Look at their coverage maps:
    http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/
    http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/CoverageLocatorController?requesttype=NEWREQUEST&market=All

At first glance, they look almost the same in the US (not really, Verizon has At&t beat if you look closer).
And I found this out when I was in the Unitah mountains with a scout troop. 50% of the kids had phones and of course the other leaders had them. But nobody had service, well except me.
I was actually surfing the web and could call my family. Others were asking me to borrow my phone. That right there sells me on Verizon, and I am glad they are bringing in the storm.
I hope that this is all that it is suppose to be.

I have to agree that this along with the g1 are real iphone competitors. I have the iphone and my friends owns the g1 but after reading the reviews and specs on this phone i am so switching. All phones have their faults but i have a good feeling about the storm.

Even with out the Storms coming out tomorrow why would you leave Verizon all other networks blow.

I have had the storm since January 17, So far I am not impressed.
I have service from all 3 major vendors.
AT&T Drop calls everywhere I go
T-Mobile I have no idea have they stay in business, but they have the cheapest plans
Verizon- I have never been anywhere in the US that Verizon does not work. I travel a great deal on business and they are the best. No dropped calls ever and crystal clear reception. In fact I was up in Woodstock, New York today on RT 28. I was told by other people in the car that they always lose phone reception on a certain part of the highway. Well Verizon trumped AT&T again. I was able to make a call, and AT@T showed no service. Taking the Auto train from Florida to New York where AT&T and T-Mobile do even get a signal. Verizon is crystal clear. Using VZ Access I can use the internet all the way.

But I will point out that they are more expensive on their pricing.

Apple, if I cannot replace the battery in a device or carry a spare, it’s not a device that will ever get my business. Nice toy for some people, but I will still with RIM.
As I stated when I started this message, thus far the Storm is not making me what to recycle my Curve, I am going to give it another week, but it is a little slow in performing a number of task and the support in non existing from the provider and the Vendor.

While in Ludlow, MA during the hoidays, my Verizon phone would lose it charge in one day looking for a signal. Its almost like not having a cell phone. What can you do to increase service ??
