Motorola V9x has begun shipping out for AT&T

News

We gave you a list of upcoming phones a while back and one of them included the V9x. Well, from the looks of it, it began shipping right on time. For those of you who are big Moto fans and you liked the RAZR2 V9 but hated the color, here’s your chance to pick up a slightly better version. Not only is it a sexier look with that clean black, but it also now has built in GPS. You know, so AT&T can bang you for another $9.99 every month. The large external display apparently also shows the GPS function, which is cool if you don’t want to hold your phone flipped open while painfully making your way to your in-laws’ house. Expect to see the same features you would find on the original V9 such as 3G and CrystalTalk technology (which actually works very well). No word on pricing for this Charcoal model but we’re guessing it should be sub-$200.

Why is the CDMA one so hard to find? On another note put out an article about att’s 4g plans

  • http://www.bgr.com/author/marcflores Marc Flores

Apparently, they don’t have any 4G plans… at least not for another half decade where they claim it will be significantly available.

Well, maybe they will get rid of the razor after they run out of letters. They are at X now, that means just Y & Z! Or perhaps they will start over with AA. The razor was “innovative”, when it came out, but the design is getting long in the tooth.

someone needs to sent mot “old roller” some creativity for christmas. the razr era is over. plus they need to put some new guts in their phones. it’s sad to see one of the pioneers sinking like this.

adding the x is nothing nothing new…remember the V3x and V3xx.

It is not shown on at&t’s site. How can it be shipping? I wonder if the 9 button is going to work 100% of the time on this one.

Still using my 512MB Moto V8…I like how the Razor 2′s look alot. Will definitely consider picking this one up, 3G and GPS is nice…if only it wasn’t locked at ATT’s garbage.

They’re already in stores; I purchased one on a 2-yr upgrade for $269.99 before $50 MIR.

What’s with all the hating? The Razr2 looks pretty damn nice and this model’s feature set is pretty good

Just purchased this phone on the att premier website.

I really wanted the v9 but there was no way I was going to buy a burgundy phone. Also the v9 battery life was pretty poor.

I bought it on the premier for $179.99 but I think regular att sells it for $199.99 now. Most (if not all) don’t even have this phone yet….I went to a few and called a few before having to buy it online.

    The Good:
0 This new V9x is really nice.
0 Batter life is now up to 6 hrs (from previous 3 hrs)
0 3G Speeds + AT&T Navigator! And you can use it on the front screen.
    0 GPS!!
0 You get video + 2.0 megapixel camera, keeping up with new phones
    0 Crystal Talk works amazing!
0 Up to 8GB of expandable memory!

    The Bad:
0 It doesn’t take a regular headphone jack! You have to get one with a mini USB (if it exists??). So there goes the whole plus about having the music accessible on the easy to use front screen!!!
0 Apparently no software for pc-phone sync–which is what I liked about my bberry curve 8310 (a lot of support on bberry.com)
    0 a little heavier

In summary I would never buy this phone as a PDA/Smartphone. With all these cool new features it is still a flip phone that you can store 8GB of music and pics. If I wanted a smartphone I would definately go with a Blackberry Curve, which aside from poor battery life, is simply put the best smartphone out there.

I do think this is the best flip phone, regular phone, out there. The quality of the sound is amazingly better than most other phones & it does carry a lot of new options. It’s weird but I get more signal strength AND better sound quality with this phone than with a previously owned iPhone.

Where did you fnd the burgundy phone for sale. I have ATT plan now and want to upgrade. I can’t find one with plan anywhere.

  • Bruno

    FYI

If are not currently a AT&T account holder, they are offering this phone for FREE (after rebate) at the MOTOROLA.COM website with any at&t plan!!!

I called at&t about this but they will not price match!

They are selling it for $149.99 with a $149.99 rebate when you purchase the phone with a at&t 2 yr contract!

This phone is advertised as a smartphone, so comparing to a smartphone shouldn’t even be suggested.

The phone is great for what it has, people should research “features” before buying and if you complain about something, complain about the phone actually does or does not, not how to compare it to another phone. Learn about it before buying…..DUH!

  • JH

Oops isn’t advertised as a smartphone, NOT is….my bad!
