Adobe confirms Flash for iPhone, Apple says when

One of the biggest gripes about the iPhone is its lack of Flash support (and believe us, that is a huge deal). Now, after waiting so friggin’ long, Adobe has officially confirmed that Flash is pretty much ready to go. This can open up the floodgates to new applications and developers who were hoping to write some Flash-based apps. Safari will no longer display pages with that stupid little Lego block icon telling us, “Sorry, no Flash. U r teh suck!” Still, Apple decides when and where on all things, well, Apple. Jens Brynildsen, a Flash expert and reputable Flash source says:

“Upon a direct question from the audience, Paul Betlem for the first time publicly confirmed that Adobe is actively developing a Flash Player for Apple’s popular phone. He said (not direct quote) ‘My team is working on Flash on the iPhone, but it’s a closed platform.’ He noted that Apple makes all the decisions, so in other words, the ball is in Apple’s yard at this time. If Apple says yes, Adobe will have the player available in a very short time.”

All you iPhone users can now rejoice since it’s not just a rumor anymore – it’s official and waiting. *In Darth Vader voice* Your training is complete.

    Depends on the flexibility they give developers. If it truely is open source then I would have to believe flash support is inevitable.

    Correction: They need to get the *latest* version of Flash to work on the Wii (currently only works with content up to Flash version 7).

    Thanks for noting that 1jaxstate1…if this was a Verizon post the very idea of it being “closed” would have BGR blasting and condemning it from ear to ear. Apple is dictating everything about this flash developing and might not even work to its full capacity and there is no critism. But alas, it is an Iphone post thus the kneepads come out and whole staff gets to work lol ;)

    this all depends on apple then, well hasn’t it always been this way? Apple could have used the earlier version of the flash mobile / lite whatever but they said no, we need to hear from apple to get our hopes up.

    Apple is playing this very business like (and toolish) They know that they only have x amount of features they can put into this phone. If they throw them all out right now then noone will ever upgrade. Expect to see advancements trickle out every 6 months or so to keep people coming back. They did the same thing with the ipod and it still doesn’t have half the feature set of most of it’s competition.
