AT&T BlackBerry Bold press release: confirms October launch, announcement soon

Exclusive

We just got our hands on an internal draft of the press release AT&T is going to run with to announce availability of the BlackBerry Bold. There’s an October XX release date (wtf?) and the usual corporate spin saying how this phone, not all the other phones that came before it is the best and most exciting. Add in a quote from RIM, and you’ve got yourself a press release! It’s dated for release today, but for some reason, we don’t see that happening. They’ll most likely wait until Jim’s keynote to announce this along with the other goodies at CTIA. Catch it in all its glory after the break, fellas!

Thanks, JP!

Oct. 2 is a Thursday. Does AT&T do launches on certain days? I would love for it to come out asap and not have to wait till mid-end of Oct. if it is a Tuesday it would be on the 7th, 14th, 21st or 28th.

Although it has gotten some bad reviews at times, I know it will sell.
Its time for a change — after using my BB Pearl for years now!

I travel extensively throughout the Southeast. AT&T’s network has provided EXCELLENT service.
I haven’t spent time with anyone using another carrier’s network that had more coverage. I have used a couple of blackberry devices. Currently using the 8310. Awesome phone, just needs 3G..TELENAV on the blackberry is better than any GPS device for auto use… I have a garmin in the truck & prefer AT&T’s TELENAV on the blackberry. Blackberry’s are extremely durable phones. I have never damaged one, but have dropped them many times. The blackberry provides excellent service / coverage when I am in an edge network area. I tried the blackjackII.. Nice phone, best option is that it’s 3G. I am carrying the 3G iphone with the blackberry right now. iphone is an excellent device. More bells & whistles that I need. It’s a cool gadget.
The ultimate phone (for me) will be the blackberry bold. It can’t get here fast enough. I appreciate everyone’s comments.

October 21st is here, no Bold. I was also told mid November by my ATT friend. Who knows, he didn’t for sure.

I spoke with AT&T yesterday and they said not til next year. Specifically because they want RIM to tweak the phone for longer battery life, they say it isn’t up to par for AT&T. At least that’s what they told me.
