Samsung a837 makes it way to AT&T; military-spec? Check

The very first celphone I had ever bought was mil-spec. It was this solid rubber mil-spec iDen monster from Telus and was only ever dropped it once: from my pocket while speeding across the bridge on my motorbike.

Is this waterproof like the G’zOne? (Man that name is hard to type! LOL)

It is water resistant. The Gzone thing is but the main problem I have seen and heard is that since it is waterproof, it sounds like you are in a tin can all the time, as where this is has awesome sound quality, with the benefits of being tough.

i just dont see the need for 3G on a phone thats not a PDA or SmartPHone this thing probably has a crappy web browser

It does have a bad web browser, but the good thing about it that helps with AT&T navigator maps downloading, syncing the address, mobile email, instant messenger, multimedia message sending and downloading, as well as video share. So there is a lot of value in having this device 3G.

Is this truly mil-spec? or mil-spec lite? I’d imagine that there are some very stringent criteria for true mil-spec.

i think its just ruggedized. to mil-spec a gadget would increase its cost tremendously. didnt bgr out a moto phone with similar specs not too long ago? ruggedized, 2mp cam, 3g, etc?

This is going to drop and yes it is mil spec, but there are different grade of mil spec. The very advances ones are usually very expensive. This one is not up to the highest standard but it is MUCH tougher then your normal phone… MUCH tougher.

I don’t see how this phone is comparable to Casio’s G’zOne at all…. It’s not even comparable to the Motorola Adventure.. Military Specs you say? Where does it say that? Is it shock proof? Vibration proof? Does it stand up to solar radiation? High temp storage? Work at any altitde? High and low temp operation? Blowing dust? Water immersion and rain proof? Salt fog? Humidity? Just to name some of the things those two phones meet military specs for………

Who gave you the right to correct everybody? Your standards are not THE standard of the world. There’s nothing wrong with “LOL” when “lol” doesn’t suffice. Furthermore, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with exclamation points.

@boo – Both of those phones I just listed fit military specs and one is 49.99 after $50 mail in rebate and the other is $79.99 after $50mail in rebate. Just because they are military spec doesn’t make them expensive… That just depends on the carrier.

@Kall -A tin can? Have you ever talked on a G’zOne? Are you serious? That is one of our best sellers. I’ve been on them many a times setting things up for people. Our guys in the warehouse have them also. The sound is perfect….

I work in Comm, in an aero base branch of the military, stationed in the northeast and none of our blackberrys are ruggedized ones. We carry commercial 8800 series blackberrys. Also, we don’t use ruggedized cell phones, just plain ol nextel direct connects. hell even our LMRs arent rugged, those break constantly. theyre all warrantied, so if they break, they break.

Att’s 3x policy is C R A P…and Im being nice. They dont want to replace it with the tundra because it works and its more expensive than the crap (now Chineese made) Samsung.

Exactly what europeans do…they find a good phone and then they take it to the carrier they want so it FORCES the Wireless companies to STOP SELLING CRAP PHONES.

Question is att is buying out my carrier. I read that someone is going to get an unlocked phone from sprint n use att service? So I’m wondering can I do that with my Alltel phone that I have n use on att service? Any help us greatly appreciated. I’m not looking forward to the switch n they don’t offer the BB pearl that I have n had great luck with.
