HTC finally releases Windows Mobile 6.1 update for Sprint Touch

General

It’s been so long that we almost stopped caring, but HTC and Sprint have come through to deliver a welcome update to the Sprint Touch. Unofficial versions of this firmware have been floating around the web for quite some time, but if you’re the sort that doesn’t like to color outside of the lines, you’ll be happy to know that the official Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrade for the Sprint Touch is now available directly from the HTC website. The changes and enhancements that come along with the WM 6.1 upgrade are old hat by now, but we’d still suggest updating your handset if you have the chance, as you’ll reap the benefits of EV-DO Rev. A, enhanced GPS functionality, an OEM version of Opera, and more. Hit the jump for more info!

    Mogul too!

    Is D3D graphics enabled?

  • Robbie

Does this really affect the Mogul too? HTC’s site doesn’t have a software link anymore for the Mogul.

  • Leo

don’t think D3D driver is included.

Its seem like its actually not officially release until Monday July 21st (as that’s the date on the webpage). but they may have forgot to set the permission correctly.

If the D3D driver is from Qualcomm, why isn’t HTC including it if the Palm Treo 800W =can= include it.

Looking at my Beta of 6.1 for my Mogul, I notice that the ROM is a different designation, as is the radio. I’m running ROM 3.49.651.0, and my Radio version is 3.39.10. Any guesses why, or are they going to release a separate ROM upgrade for the Mogul?

  • Colin

Also, with the 3.35.651 previous update for the Mogul, we already have Rev. A speed, so I’d actually wait if you own a Mogul.

Still, it’s a good sign that HTC may be close to releasing an “official” update for the Mogul.

Psh….fuck that p.o.s. where’s the update for my Tilt?

  • Scott

It was taken off the HTC site “due to some [software] issues,” and “It should be re-released sometime shortly,” according to the Sprint rep I chatted with.

  • Gauntlet Down

Yes, I guess my point was “The Treo 800W =has= the [Qualcomm written] drivers, why doesn’t the HTC?” and “If HTC found problems with those [Qualcomm written] drivers, does this suggest the Treo 800W will exhibit manifestations of those problems eventually?”…

where can we get the update for free

  • Matt

AT&T how about some love for the Tilt & Blackjack II allready!
