Sprint launching HTC Touch Diamond on September 2nd?

If there’s one handset out there that’s almost as highly anticipated as the iPhone, it’s the HTC Touch Diamond. Announced in May, we’ve been waiting for an official carrier announcement here in the United States. Sprint and Verizon are rumored to be among the first to offer here, but specific dates have been elusive. According to a recently leaked slide, however, it looks like we might be in for a treat come September. Apparently, the carrier is preparing to launch the Touch Diamond as the HTC MP6950 (the current touch is the MP6900), on the 2nd of September, which is just under 2 months away for anyone counting. We’ll work on getting confirmation on this, but in the mean time you might want to salivate a bit over the Telus version,which looks to be launching about a month before we see one down this way.

    I just got off the phone with Sprint customer care, and they said the release date is, in fact, September 14th. I can’t believe that Sprint has not done any marketing for this phone, prior to this “phantom” release date. You would think Sprint would be airing TV spots for this phone’s release date, since I think it is one of the first phones out there that, I think, is going to come close to the iphone. The Instinct is just a garbage-knock-off to the iphone, IMHO.

    Well…the release date is definitely not today, the HTC Touch Diamond is no where to be found in Sprint stores on the long awaited projected date of September 2. I wonder what caused this phone to be pushed back to the new projected date of September 14th?

    I was at a Sprint store yesterday (9/2) and they told me they will have the Diamonds in on Friday (9/5).

    A sprint store rep has notified me that the HTC Touch Diamond starter kit arrived today…phone will be available tomorrow or Friday. omg i can’t wait

    It is the Diamond and the new release date straight from Sprint is Sept. 14, 2008. The sprint tele-sales dept has already gone through the training on the phone and even though it was supposed to be released on Sept 2, it was pushed back to Sep 14…

    Detroit stores saying that training for sales reps has been pushed back past the 14th, so looks like the 14th is not going to happen on the Diamond.

    I have an htc phone and I would never get another. I find it hard to use, and sometimes it doesn’t work at all. I can’t wait till I can get a different phone.
