Facebook app comes to Windows Mobile

General

Those of us rocking BlackBerry handhelds have had access to a Facebook application for quite some time, but it’s nonetheless exciting to see some sort of solution pop up for the Windows Mobile platform. This Facebook app comes to us courtesy of Face Of Mobile, and allows you access to the following Facebook functions:

  • Get notifications sent directly to your home screen
  • Set your status
  • Approve friend requests
  • View Group/Event invites
  • Check your wall and inbox
  • Send your friends messages, pokes, and wall posts

Basic stuff, but still nice to have if you’re a Facebook addict currently tethered to your Windows Mobile handset.

About that Facebook app for Blackberry–it’s pretty lame. It doesn’t handle the removal of the automatic “is” from statuses, it is very limited in the information it presents, it doesn’t handle any applications (although most of the time that’s an asset).

I hope they update it soon.

Facebook mobile for iPhone is the best, the above is garbage compared to it. No, I’m not an Apple fan boy.

I loved the facebook app on the iPhone 3G, even though I couldn’t get my photos to display. I also loved the web browsing. Other than that, I hated the lack of functionality in the iPhone. You can’t even cut and paste nor use it as a thumb drive! Voice dialing? SOL.

All this basic functionality missing, and the pretty interface doesn’t make up for it. I returned it yesterday for an AT&T tilt, which I’m much happier with than my iPhone. Like 90% vs. 50% for iPhone.

But I’d love to have a great Facebook app for it!

There’s a new Windows Mobile facebook app out there – ThumbLink
It’s got a one-thumb interface that lets you navigate without using a stylus. You can view friends and events, upload photos, view albums, and more…
