BlackBerry Bold video mimics iPhone, except it’s fake

Opinions

Yeah, we’ve heard it all before. “How many different ways can you present a phone on video?” “No, it’s not copying the iPhone commercials and video walkthroughs.” “You’re an Apple fanboy!” Blah, blah, blah. But we’re sure we’re not the only ones a bit surprised to see RIM offering a video sneak peak at the BlackBerry Bold. As nice as that is, there are a couple things that really get under our skin. First off, RIM has never done this before. They’re trying to get the consumer market and be hip, and we get that. It’s just that the Bold isn’t really a consumer device. It’s more targeted at corporate users with its high price. So why bother? They may be scared that small and medium sized business users are going to switch over to the new iPhone — which could be partly true. You know, seeing as how no one in the U.S. will be able to buy the friggin’ thing until mid-August. But our real big issue with the video is (stop comparing it to the iPhone, damn it!) that it’s fake! It’s all a render! Nothing on that video is real except for the person’s hands over a green screen. And that’s still questionable. The OS and device are all computer-generated; every single thing you see in that video is not real. Does that not bother anyone? Web browser? Fake. Email? Fake? Phone call? Fake. Home screen? Fake. Come on, RIM. You’re better than that. You’re resorting to fake phone demos now? Mmm.

RIMM’s stock is reflective of the voting machine that is wall street. In the long run, the weighing machine kicks in and true vale is achieved. You cannot say anything about RIMM’s stock if you have not read the conf call transcript or listened to it. What they are doing is to forgoe near term earnings blow outs for investing in scale. marketing was just one of the areas they increased spending in. they also built another NOC and acquired a gsm patent portfolio that the ceo referred to as extremely fortunate. I love that the stock is down because this gives me more opportunity to add to my already significant position. how bad are they doing if they raised new sub additions to 2.6 mln this quarter vs. 2.3 and 2.2 mln for the last two quarters. seems they have some confidence in what they are doing to give this guidance with the iPhone being launched soon.

Hey crazylegs you moron, how’s that rimm stock price today? What’s that -20.00 HAHAHAHAHA You dumb BB fanboy, thats what you get for not selling yesterday at 140 when I told you too. Missed all the estimates and the delay of that trash BB. SELL SELL SELL BB NOW! SALVAGE WHATS LEFT!

  • bob

INC… not sure how you invest, but if you invested yesterday as an “awesome opportunity to buy” as you stated, well you’ve down -20.00 in the red today. HAHAHAHA That’s what you get for being a BB fanboy! Should have sold and salvaged what you had left at $140… keep losing your money over your fanaticism.

  • BB still better…

everyone chiiiiiiiill. Its an add, thats all and nothing more. its not trying to stop world hunger. its just like every other add you see for a car, or a tv, or a device, etc. I think they believe people that use a blackberry are relatively educated, although I use that loosely, and realize thats really not the the way it will look and or work. Everyone knows how a BB will work.

the iphone and BB are 2 COMPLETELY different deivices for different market segments. Hell women cant type on it with nails. bottom line, emailing/texting is to hard on the iphone, BB has it nailed and will continue too. As a note I have both, BB is better hands down. When I’m walking around NYC I may bring my iphone, mainly because of the browser and maps. I downloaded google maps for my BB and boom there you go. Iphone? just to hard to type….

Hard drive?! LMAO! Show me the iPhones HDD, RIGHT NOW!

SD cards are great for running media. I have 2500 songs and several movies on my 8120 with an 8Gb mSDHC. They all run fine.

iPhone sack riders, the lot of you.

    @ hellno…I mean Bob…

You’re a retard! The guy was talking about buying the stock on the drop the following day, not @ 140. Try following the bouncing ball if you can.

And how’s that Verizon job going? Your site sucks!

  • bob

bluehorse: I know he was talking about buying it the following day and if he did, he would have lost $20 per share, read my post again, moron. Verizon? Last I checked Apple ran on AT&T, your mother.

crazy legs: I’m glad you bought more yesterday, way to buy more after they missed two targets, again, idiot. Oh and today? You’re down another 5 points. Like I said yesterday your fanaticism is costing your children’s (God help them) college fund. Should have sold at 140 and salvaged the money you had left. It’ll be down under 110 today with an opening below 100 on Monday. RIMM = Crashed. Goodnight suckers.

WTF does stock price have to do with this?? Most stocks are down hell I’m losing 60 on my 401k every couple of days. I have 1st gen iphone and a curve and they both have there own place and time. My reasons for not upgrading to a 3g iphone are 1. AT&T doesn’t even have 3g where I live 2. Iphone 3g is the same thing as the 1st gen with 2.0 so I didn’t want to waste my upgrade on it. Im thinking about the bold or the i907 (if it even comes to AT&T). I’m a fan of apples and blackberries so I say buy both..fruits good for ya!!
