Huge line forms at 5th avenue Apple Store, everyone else scratches their heads in disbelief

Rumor

We love our gadgets as much, if not more, than the next guy, but this has to be one of the most ridiculous things we’ve seen in quite some time. There’s currently a massive line forming in front of the 5th Avenue Flagship Apple Store. According to reports on the ground, the crowd is forming in anticipation of the new 2nd Generation iPhone launch. Cool, but aren’t you guys a bit early? Yeah. We thought so. While the 3G iPhone is certainly coming soon, there’s nothing whatsoever to indicate that today is the drop date. Sure, Apple might drop a huge surprise on us, but we’re guessing that the 60-some-odd folks in line are either casualties of a successful prank, foreigners looking for a “true American experience”, or just plain confused. Sheep mentality is a funny thing, folks.

Gal you are a moron, not everyone wants to be like you.
That hack on OSX was a safari / webkit hole and it was fixed that next week.

Not everyone wants to be a wanna be hacker like you, im glad you like building your pos box and using ubuntu. not everyone wants that though. all you have is the anti-apple retoric.

ps and good job on your use of the word “retoric”, im surprised you could use that word correctly.

  • ritesh

    WTF is Retoric?
    The word is RHETORIC.

    Krubuntu Said:

Well, Vista is a turd in the punchbowl and OSX is better in many ways, but I just can’t trust a companyb that sells a wireless device and then tells users what carrier they can use it on. That’s neither consumer friendly or innovative.

Other than buying unlocked GSM, just about all the carriers have phones they are locked into. What phones do Verizon or Sprint sell that will work on “other” carriers? Even TMO and AT&T’s phones won’t activate on each other’s network unless you can pay to have it unlocked. And so far, the iPhone is on several different carriers worldwide. Every carrier has it’s “exclusives” my friend. :-)

ritesh – thanks i did not catch my own mistake after reading galvatron’s.

Evilhomer – i agree but its the way things are here, i hate being locked in but I would hate spending twice the money on a device. especially since all the carriers price’s are pretty close.

  • Scott

    dtest5477 – thank you!

galvatron – go back to school and then go out and understand the rest of the tech world around you

  • Galvatron

actulya you can cal tmo customer service an unlock you phone for free if you traveling or have owned the device for 90 days
att well you have tait till your contract is up LAME

  • Dtest5477

Gal again your wrong, ATT will give you the unlock code as well, Tmo is not the only carrier in the country that does it. You really should get out of your wanna be hacker hole sometimes and catch up with whats going on around you. oh and get a keyboard that actually works..

  • johdaxx

So – does anyone have any real information what those dorks* think they’re doing out there? Maybe someone in NY can go down there, ask them what’s going on, and post back.

*In this sentence I use the term ‘dork’ not to imply inferiority or superiority of Apple’s or Microsoft’s or anyone else’s products, but to question whether there is any product available to man that warrants spending the better part of what is commonly believed to be three freakin weeks standing around waiting to buy it.

Sheep mentality is not a funny thing, its a very sad thing. Conformity and the loss of one’s self is actually one of the few things I can truly say that I hate in this world. Now, I don’t know what the hell these people are doing, but I praise the lord I’m not a follower.

  • Galvatron

yeah i considder myself a leader too

  • Its me!

Apple PR stunt. Getting people ready to drop some big dough.

  • Galvatron

att dose give you he unlock cod AFTER your contract has expired

  • Dtest5477

still beating this dead horse i see, they give it to you when you need it. I have unlocked two phones with them mid-contract. thanks though.

  • Graham

T-Mobile will unlock your handset for FREE after 90 days of ownership. One more reason the Pink T rocks!
