NAVIsurfer II is an Accident Waiting to Happen

The possibilities might be endless for this in-dash geek toy, but it has to be one of the most surefire ways around to guarantee that you’ll wreck your car. “Sorry lady, I was trying to put the finishing touches on this picture in Photoshop and I didn’t see you stop!” The NAVIsurfer II is the first single DIN in-car PC on the the market. That’s right, it can fit in a single DIN slot to replace the OEM stereo unit in just about any car. It features a 1024 x 768 pixel, 7″ motorized touchscreen with adjustable viewing angle and swivel, and it retracts fully into the body of the unit. The NAVIsurfer II doesn’t ship with an OS but Windows XP and Linux are both supported. With the right software and / or hardware you’ve got yourself a media server, GPS navigation, back-up camera monitor, TV, gaming console… The list goes on and on. In terms of memory, you’re looking at between 40 and 120 GB of hard drive space depending on the model you go with, and 256 or 512 MB of RAM. Just don’t say we didn’t warn you when you get distracted by your buddies playing WoW and run your Civic into a wall. Not that this thing could handle WoW…
