Samsung has officially decided to pull out of the Japanese home electronics market. The company has cut much of its physical retail sales from the country over the course of the last year, but has continued to sell its goods over the web…until now. Citing an increase in stiff competition combined with decreasing profits, Samsung will no longer be offering its selection of LCD TVs, MP3 players, DVD Players, or any other consumer product you could think of. It’s unclear if this statement also means that the company will be pulling out of the wireless market, though we can’t imagine they would make a move like that. Samsung will continue to sell its consumer electronics outside of Japan, but anyone looking to pick up a new 32" Samsung LCD TV for their vacation home in Tokyo might want to draw up a contingency plan.
