AT&T and Verizon looking to break into India's mobile market

The two leaders of the American wireless market have both independently expressed a desire to move into India’s rapidly emerging wireless melee. Sound like a good idea? We’d have to agree. Before you get too excited, though, it’s important to note that neither AT&T nor Verizon would enter the market on their own. AT&T is set to acquire a stake in Telecom Mahnidra, while Verizon would partner with Videocon. It will be interesting to see how these deals play out, and what the long term domestic implications prove to be. Cheaper roaming, anyone? Now, instead of your favorite company’s call center, it could be a mobile call center…OK, that was bad. Maf karo.
