HTC Juno is the T-Mobile Shadow? Full specs below!

Exclusive

We just got word that the rumored HTC Juno we leaked, might actually be offically named the T-Mobile Shadow. We think we got the full specifications nailed down as follows…The T-Mobile Shadow will run a 201MHz CPU, but the memory will clock in at 128MB of RAM and a 256MB ROM. The memory increase alone supposedly makes the Shadow incredibly speedy. In the camera department, we’ve got a 2 megapixel cam, and the device sports a beautiful QVGA screen, Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi. No word on if this will be a T-Mobile Hotspot@Home product, yet. The keyboard always looked like "SureType" to us, but supposedly HTC and T-Mobile are very careful about referring to it as such. Regardless, it does look to utilize the same concept with more than one letter per key on a 20-key slide out keyboard. Lastly, the T-Mobile Shadow will come in two colors, brown, and sage green. We were told to expect an announcement towards mid-October, followed by a late October release. Bring it on T-Mobile! We’re glad you guys are actually getting back into the phone business!

P.S. Our informant explained to us that "Kii" was found on the back of the battery cover. HTC Kii is the HTC Juno, which is the T-Mobile Shadow? The Juno might not be the HTC Phoebus after all…

I just got my phone today and it keeps on surprising me every time I open it. i love this phone. I will most likely buy something else that tmo comes with when this one craps out on me

I just got mine today and I have to say it is much better than my old blackberry. Would be the ultimate phone if it had GPS though.

I’ve got one and am considering returning it. The keyboard stinks. It’s extremely difficult to use. Chinese logic is not my logic or, I feel, that of most Western minds. It looks neat and that’s about all. Unlike clamshell phones like the Razr it doesn’t hang up the call when you close the sliding keyboard, you must press the end call button. The half querty keyboard keys are very small – perhaps OK for those with tiny fingers but not for normal men. Each key has 2 lettewrs on it so when you’re entering contacts you have to select which letter you want from the display after you’ve pressed the key. It is not all intuitive. The plastic covers over the USB connector and the micro SD slot are held by a very thin rubber/plastic material that can be far too easily broken. The screen looks large but 2/3 of it is not really the screen it’s just a frame. The actual size of the display is the same as a Razr. I think it was designed as a competitor to the iPhone, it looks sort of similar and it’s promoted heavily as a media player. It has wi-fi connectivity which is good but it’s not that easy to set up. Also T-Mo pushes it’s own hotspots network very heavily to point where you have to read the fine print to figure out how to connect to other wi-fi networks, like your own. It may only take a very short time before T-Mo customers start returning these clunkers.

    Andy,

I just picked one(brown) up the day after they came out. I’m pretty satisfied with it as far as WM goes. The WiFi is easy to the set up and you can change the settings for the slider to hang up or pick up the phone. The keyboard is stupid but I’m getting used to it and if you’re still using multitap and not any sort of T9 variant you need to get with the program or get a full keyboard for that matter. The “smart type” wasn’t that hard of a migration from regular T9 except for the fact that all of the buttons are in a different place and its also very difficult to hold the phone in one hand and type like I was able to do with everyo other phone I have ever had. I really like the predictive word feature also. Like you said the port covers are garbage and I’m waiting for them to fall off. This is just an interim phone for the next two years until Apple actually comes out with real unlocked iPhones

Hey Everyone, we have a dedicated website for the T-Mobile Shadow http://www.allshadow.com

We have tips and tricks as well as videos about how to accomplish certain tasks. New material is posted everyday. If you have questions feel free to ask.

@Andy, the input method takes about a day to get used to. If you continue pressing the keys with the letters you want on it, it will autocomplete words for you. If you want to switch the input method, hold down the * key and menu will pop up allowing you to choose the input method

About Hotspot@home. I have not seen it on the device but I am looking into it to find a solution. Everyone wants to save bucks on calling. T-Mobile would be wise to push this heavily as it gives them an edge. Would be great for secluded areas with no cell phone coverage but do have internet.

    See you!
