Samsung's new mystery device

General

Nothing like a good mystery for a Thursday afternoon, right? Some shots have emerged of a Samsung-branded device that looks to share more than a little in common with the current BlackJack. The device appears to be sporting Windows Mobile 6 Professional, complete with touch screen. In addition, the pictured device has an Orange-themed home screen, leading us to believe that it’s destined for that carrier’s European network. It also sports a front facing camera, indicating 3G HSDPA/UMTS connectivity. Care to share any more, Samsung? Samsung needs a BlackJack replacement like O.J. needs to get out of the news, so let’s hope this thing gets official rather quickly.

    Now this is the type of ‘news’ that wee need to see regularly on BGR.

    Please stop posting daily musings about the iPhoney.

    I hear that SonyEricsson has approached HTC about making a WM handset, where’s the news about this?

    Could this also be the mysterious BlackJack II that I’ve been hearing about?

    Why would you want a mouse if its a touch screen?

    No 850? Why in the world do device makers produce devices without 850 still? Sheer lunacy, IMO…

    @ Chris

    The frequencies listed would imply that this phone is intended for Europe/Asia.

  • Chris

    @ Randy

    I understand that. I’m just wondering why not make just one model? Why manufacture the i600 for Asia/Europe and the i607 for N.A.?

    Does this really benefit their business?

    I don’t care what you call it or what it could be called or what it might be, this looks like my Blackjack with some style and much more useful features. I hope that it drops in the U.S. and A. and be named something (exactly this) along the lines of Blackjack II. Maybe with this BJ, Samsung won’t cripple it (bust out the hacksaw) except for 3G.

    @Randy
    I hope all those specs are right, just that you called it by its proper name (i.e. SGH-i607) instead of its nickname…Blackjack II.
