Palm just continues to surprise us, don’t they? It seems that the company will be releasing a new Windows Mobile handset in Europe on September. Contrary to popular belief, this will not be a European version of the already-announced Centro. It will, however, be a new Windows Mobile handset sporting the Gandolf name and should launch on Vodafone. Whether or not it will retain the Gandolf is a real name or codename is up in the air, but the handset will certainly be sporting Windows Mobile 6 standard, i.e. no touch screen. The rest of the specs aren’t clear either, but chances are good that it will be running atop the same platform that the Gandolf was rumored to sport, which included a 2.4″ QVGA screen, 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth with A2DP, 3G/HSDPA, and 256 mb of onboard memory. Not too shabby. Let’s just hope that the keyboard is, well, usable. Any takers?
